2012 Holden Colorado Crew Cab previewed in Rally Concept

The 2012 Holden Colorado Crew Cab has been previewed in a Chevrolet concept at the 5th International Motor Show in Buenos Aires.

The Chevrolet Colorado Rally Concept is our second look at the all-new ute range, which will go on sale in Australia in the first quarter of 2012.

An expanded cab Colorado concept with suicide doors was unveiled at March’s Bangkok International Motor Show in a much more urban-friendly guise.

Obviously, the production version of the Holden Colorado Crew Cab will shed the chunky tyres, integrated winch and black plastic cladding of the Rally Concept, although the robust road presence and broad body panels will carry over largely unchanged.

Chevrolet says the Colorado Rally Concept is powered by the 2.8-litre turbodiesel engine from the expanded cab concept, suggesting this engine will find its way into the production model.

The current-generation Holden Colorado is powered by a 120kW/360Nm 3.0-litre four-cylinder turbodiesel.

Chevrolet is yet to reveal the new engine’s performance data, although expect it to sit somewhere between the current engine’s output and the 147kW/470Nm to be offered by the all-new Ford Ranger and Mazda BT-50’s 3.2-litre five-cylinder turbodiesel.

A production version of the Colorado is expected to be unveiled before the end of the year. Stay tuned for more updates.
