Audi A1 by ABT Sportsline

It might be one of Audi’s smallest and most economical models but that doesn’t mean you can’t get it going a little quicker.

Making Audi’s go quicker is what German tuner ABT does best. They’ve been doing it for nearly 100 years and “nobody does it better”, as the song goes. Co-owner and the man in charge of product development is former DTM racer Christian Abt, who has been on the podium several times in recent years at the Nurburgring 24-hour. ABT also prepare some of Audi's race cars so they have enormous experience when it comes to tuning and reliability, despite the additional performance they get out of the road cars.

Take the compact Audi A1 with the latest 1.4 TFSI engine that develops 136 kW in standard guise, which ABT acknowledge “is a lot of fun on winding roads” and the reason why they sought to give the car extra power. It’s extra agile too according to Hans-Jurgen Abt, General Manager of the company, who makes the point that:

“It just doesn’t need to have good throttle response, but the handling has to be right too. You should always look forward to your next trip with the A1.”

ABT tune the A1 up to 154 kW of power, so that it just doesn’t corner like a high performance sports car, but goes well on the freeway too. Top speed is close to 240km/h and the 0-100km/h sprint will take just 6.6 seconds thanks to ABT power.

Thankfully, you can get the same ABT Audi tune work in Australia through tuning house Ramspeed, who represent most of the major German tuner brands here.
