IMO they’ve boganised what was a truly great looking, very classy vehicle. It’s a bit like putting a tattoo on the Mona Lisa.
they are awesome looking in the metal, but I kinda agree, these models are much nastier looking. I really like them, to me they look like they mean business, but I’m also a fan of the GTR for the same reason.
Or stay with me here save 100k and buy a faster car Nissan GTR.
Yeah I watched Top Gear last week and they were giving us all the blah blah about this car and how good it was (particularly on paper), until they brought out the Nissan GTR. Needless to say the GTR absolutely flogged it. Personally I don’t think it would ever be worth that much extra just for a bit of pose value.
Different markets altogether. Another way to consider value would be to note that the XKR/XKR-S are as powerful as an Aston DBS with more torque , similar aluminium monocoque chassis and shape, better electronic diff and the XKR-S flogged all Astons around the Top Gear test track…..all at a serious price discount to the competition Then you’re comparing some apples with apples.
I agree though that these “boganised” XKRs with the decals aren’t to my taste.
I have to agree there Brent but if your looking at performance the GTR is better then both of them and most new cars worth triple or double the price I just cant see where the extra money is on this car.
and Tuff Guy I watched the same episode really opens eyes on how quick the GTR is.
This is definitely a nice car, with plenty of character but it is getting a little old now. If I had this kind of cash to splurge I would hold out for the new M6 which will absolutely wipe the floor with this car in terms of performance, technology and all round competence.
When I see one of these, am I alone in thinking what a wonderful car and what a dickhead driving it (sorry Alborz).
I admire the styling, the engineering, the total impracticality and just wonder at the ego and disposable income of the person who feels the need to spend so much money on what is just personal transport. It cannot be used anywhere near its potential on public roads without loss of license or life.
Still if you have access to a racetrack and have the money available, then go ahead.
…Jaguar still use Ford engines, don’t they?
Too many better cars to be had up to that price range.
I think it looks ordinary, maybe its the white colour?
BUT BUT BUT I love the last bottom picture XKR-S in FishermansBend BLUE, that does indeed look HOT!
Still it does make a 911 look like a Falcodore common.
So it attracts girls, i like that in a car!
It seems a bit crass.
People used to love hi po English cars over US cars because it was performance without a marching band….and mention of cubic inches (Americans are obsessed with size- the bigger the better)
James Bond versus Captain America
So what do women prefer…. to help out the FrugalOne
Call me gay but I know which I prefer.
Any thoughts from all those ladies out there?
I’d get the Nissan GTR any day…
Brent is 150% correct.
No one can deny the GTR is the best value for money Supercar in the world.
However, if you are looking at a Aston,Porsche,Mazza,Benz,BMW at the high $200K’s a GTR simply isnt in the picture.
When you look at the bang for your buck in the Jag compared to the other euro marque the jags good value.
I drive the non ‘R’ version of the coupe and prefer the less aggressive styling. Would like the extra grunt of the supercharger….but in any case, insane to drive and love the shape…
GT-R is Soooo much better looks like a good car but where is the speed 280kmp/h is not that fast
