2012 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 Nurburgring video

Chevrolet has posted a new video on YouTube detailing its 2012 Corvette ZR1's Nurburgring lap which has beaten its previous record by a whopping six seconds. For the record, the ZR1 is rear-wheel-drive (unlike a certain Japanese contender) and is completely stock, save a few safety additions for the run. The time? Driver and chassis development engineer, Jim Mero, posted a 7:19.63.

After having driven the track several weeks ago, along with CarAdvice scribe Anthony Crawford, I can assure you it's a lot harder than it looks, and judging by the air the ZR1 is getting in several places, this would have been one helluva ride.

It's the most formidable track in the world, and hats are off to any driver who can get under seven-and-a-half minutes in any car.

Enjoy the ride and also the interesting commentary detailing improvements to the 2012 car.
