An engine eagerly speculated to feature in the HSV line-up sometime in the not too distant future, the LS9 powerplant is a 6.2L supercharged V8 producing 476kW and 819Nm.

This makes it GM’s most powerful engine – ever, and is hand built by specially trained technicians at GM’s Performance Build Center in Wixom, Michigan alongside HSV’s LS7 engine for the W427.

Very tough indeed. Would of thought it would have gone more in the end.

  2. Frugal One says:

Would have been impressive a few years ago, but now its not more than *ho-hum*

Totally spanked by the GTR around TheRing, to the tune of 20s which is years in real terms!

Back to the drawring board guys!

    Cheers

    F-0

  3. Duck says:

    0-100km speed time is?

  4. HSV Senator says:

believed to be from 3.0 to 3.4 secs

  5. Duck says:

Bloody good! Thats a better 0-1ookn time than the Porsche Carrera Turbo!

  6. crouchy says:

which they would do something about that outdated interior.

  7. Az says:

I like how he keeps looking at the speed in that last half of the video, even though the computer getting it all…i would watch where i;m going at that speed…

  8. anthony C says:

and to think back in the day cars like the diablo and f40 were fighting it out for fastest car when the diablo just took the lead with 204mph

…. anotehr 20 years.. 300mph will be old school

  9. Wig Wom says:

The Toyota TRD Aurion V6 with 241 killer wasps would beat the corvette because of skinner tyres and because the game has changed. The TRD Aurion v6 was voted best car by TRD Aurion owners who’s engine has not blown up yet and also won 6est car voted on by members of Australian Pensioners Insurance Agency.Get that one up you ford fairys

  10. Jimbo says:

Very ugly car, fast but ugly

  11. Duck says:

How could the TuRD Aurion beat the corvette!

  12. TP says:

Id get a TRD over the Corvette… yes its fast… but its ugly as hell both inside and out

  13. Wheelnut says:

TP: The Corvette Ugly – Sure its not as good looking as as an Aston Martin but for someone who believes that the current Camry is a thing of beauty to say the Corvette is ugly is a bit hard to take

At least the Corvette follows the classic sproty lines of the previous models [you can see how its evolved over time from 56 to now] whereas the Camry nor the Avalon/Aurion can claim such heritage.
Heritage is what stirs peoples emotions which is why most Toyotas are considered Bland and Boring

  14. Andrew M says:

    yep,
I’d much rather the one with the red interior that will fade to a shade of pink under the harsh aussie sun pppfffftttt

  15. Wheelnut says:

Could you Iiagine what would happen to a TuRD Aurion if someone was insane enough to put the LS-9 from the vette under the Toyotas bonnet?

  16. Andrew M says:

but if someone calls you girly because your TRD has a pink interior, just show them the big guns you earnt from trying to keep the thing on the road

  17. TP says:

If someone calls the interior pink, then you just laugh because the prick saying it is high…. and if he owns a Holden or Ford, he will be one of the guys trying to wash your windows at the lights, because he took out a $60k loan on a FPV and it broke down on him out of warranty!

  18. Duck says:

Like Wheelnut said “Sure its not as good looking as as an Aston Martin”. I agree but its still nice looking. Come on the TuRD Aurion is a very unsafe and silly car. Corvette all the way! And why compare it to a Corvette? Geeeeeeeeeez TP!

  19. MatthewM says:

“Could you Imagine what would happen to a TuRD Aurion if someone was insane enough to put the LS-9 from the vette under the Toyotas bonnet?”

Torque steer the likes man has never seen before! I can imagine the car not being able to do anything other than circle work.

  20. Duck says:

Also like Wheelnut also said TP. Toyota hasnt kept alot of heritage with its large V6’s. The Avalon went for 5 years 2000-2005. And now its the aurion. How long will that last? Sure holden moved from kingswood to the commodore. But there’ve had the commodore for a while now. The same with fords been loyal to their falcon.

  21. Wig Wom says:

Its true the Toyota TRD Aurion would beat the Ford corvette because it has 32 valves Vs 16 valves. It has 2 less injectors and a smaller blower meaning a weight saving. Thus meaning if you did put the Ford LS-9 into the Aurion it would probably go slower.Don’t you guys Know anything,Ford fairys.

  22. Andrew M says:

    TP,
we are all getting ahead of ourselves here.

we have assumed that some one has actually purchased a TRD to be able to be caught sitting in one

  23. TP says:

Duck heritage? The only heritage Holden and Ford have is a history of being fleet sellers which cant crack the private market (ie the market which actually uses its OWN money to buy the BEST vehicle available). Toyota have cracked this market with its first attempt! Join the dots

  24. Boy Wonder says:

Holden – established in Australia in 1856
Ford – Established in Australia in 1925
Toyota Establiushed in Australia in 1958

So Holden and Ford have way more heritage that Toyota

  25. Oz. says:

Where is this at? It looks like it could be an oval at one GM’s proving grounds.

  26. Confusious says:

TP: What do yu mean by Toyota cracked the market on their first attempt?

If you are talking about the Family Sized Sedan Sector and the Aurion… you have obviously forgotten the Avalon

And why have they sat on their laurels with the Corolla – which is now under threat from the Fiesta Focus and Mazda 3 which have better safety more features more power = better value for money

Toyota may be the market leader ATM but remember its easier to chase then to follow… the one company Ford Holden and Toyota should watch out for is probably Mazda

  27. Wheelnut says:

Ugly? – to mee the front [particularly the headlights and bonnet] looks similar to a Ferrari F360 or F430.. both of which are automotive and engineering works of art

  28. PoisonEagle says:

TRD in a Corvette article? TPTroll your life must be utter utter bliss. F*ck off with your TRD. They aren’t as exciting as the alternative, just like Toyota. Everyone knows you’d pick a TRD over this because you are disgustingly one eyed and dumb as all hell. Get a clue, you are a major major blight.

  29. PoisonEagle says:

As for the car, WHAT A MONSTER!!!! I F*CKING WANT ONE

  30. Duck says:

Good on you PosionEagle! Should tell something very meaningful to TP, that his wrong! I totally agreed what you said!

Come on TP! Agree that the Corvette is better than the TuRD Aurion. Because it is!

  31. wheelnut says:

FYI The runs were performed at Chevs proving ground in Milford; Michigan

  32. wheelnut says:

Poison Eagle if you just want one I suggest you contact Corvette Australia in QLD.. they are probably the biggest importer of Cheve Muscle and Performance Cars.

Otherwise to get a taste of all that power youll have to wait for the HSV GTS-R expected to be released in Dec-Jan

  33. Duck says:

Are they realy gonna realese the GTS-R? I thought it was all media hype.

  34. PoisonEagle says:

Wheelnut, Somehow I bet the price would be a tad out of my league LOL Saw a C4 today, plenty of presence and there’s no denying it’s origins.

  35. Joober says:

Poison, I think u need to direct to the originator of the the fire whoever that wigwom guy putting TRD into this. Starting fires with mentioning a car thats not even in the same class..

  36. No Name says:

Right on Joober. TP’s OK just getting provoeked by the anti-toyota spuds. Comparing a Corvette with an Aurion. Sadly Toyota don’t do sporty stuff at the mo.

  37. eric says:

I enjoyed my old C4 which had a Lingenfelter 383 superam motor in it. It really woke the car up but of course now the new C6 cars which come with the base 435 horsepower engines have caught up to me now.

  38. matt says:

awwwww i seen one of these today on the goldy…. bloody nice, this is an old thread so dunno if ill get a reply but does anyone know how much it costs to import one of these to OZ?

also how come…. no matter what car i read about on here in a blog.. some wanker always tries to compare a toyota to it……… it sickens me
