Video: Camaro caught testing at Ring

April 23, 2008 by George Skentzos

The Chevrolet Camaro has been caught out and about – again, this time in a full 6 minute video captured by the Camaro5 blog.

Video: Camaro caught testing at Ring

It contains footage of the Camaro cruising about town sporting some intimidating Bremo brakes, as well as on the Nurburgring getting in a few hot laps.

See if you can spot the Australian connection, however obvious it may be.

Anyone else notice the Aston Martin DBS cut at about 2mins 20? weird

  2. The Sicilian says:

Anyone notice the black Pontiac G8 (aka Commodore) near the end, in front of the Camaro? Interesting to see our Commodore on the ‘ring!

  3. Tranquillizer says:

they didnt mention the lap time. did they?

  4. crouchy says:

did anyone notice the vic plates? whats up with that?

  5. Benjie says:

    Crouchy:

The car is from Victoria maybe???

Holden’s proving grounds are at Lang Lang, where the car is currently being developed.

They are currently at the ‘ring testing the Pirelli tyres fitted to the car.

  6. Geoff says:

    Fugly tho!

  7. Wheelnut says:

I agree -from the front “Bumblebee” [from the transformers movie] looks better.
Althogh I’d still go for a Dodge Challenger if/when they import them to Australia

Another development prototype you should keep an eye out for is a White VE Coupe – last seen in Perth.. which could mean either another Monaro or a Torana A9-X

  8. NIK516 says:

sorry dont like the car in black maybe its just suppose to be a silver car lol.

  9. Bazza says:

Agreed, it doesn’t look all that good in black.

Prefer the silver one in the photo.

  10. Wheelnut says:

I think the silver one in the photo is the original prototype which was designed and created in Holdens new design studio in Melbourne as part of the case proposal for the GM board as to what the new Camaro should look like

  11. Mike says:

No thanks, yet another overstyled / understyled yank tank

  12. GhisGT says:

How can somthing be both over AND under styled?

  13. jamison says:

i think its better looking than the Mustang…
still It’d have to be range defying and genre moving to sway buyers away from other performance cars… pricing in US should be around 30~35K, so not so bad over here.

  14. No Name says:

Bear i mind the Mustang design is getting on a bit now.

  15. Duck says:

What no flashing indicator brake lights! And why cant they use the head lights like used on the bumble bee concept? Or maybe GM are trying to trick us!

Wheelnut, i thought GM ditched the Monaro.

  16. Wheelnut says:

Duck the test car thats been spotted driving around is a Modified Tudor VE – its a bit smaller than the Coupe 60 which indicates that its more likely to be a A9-X although you never know..

  17. BTVQ38DETT says:

This Camaro is UGLY. Again, they create awesome looking prototype and the production version looks cheap and weak.

  18. Duck says:

BTVQ38DETT, its to soon to say that. Remember this is to trick the car to people.

  19. Wheelnut says:

I would like to see semi consealed headlights like the ones that were on the 67-68 SS..

The coolest Camaro I’ve seen was a blown 67 Camaro built by B&M USA [back in the 90s] as a Promotional Vehicle it had a cool spectrum pant job [hot pink-blue] and a neon bowtie on the grille

  20. Kim says:

I was driving in front of the black camaro last week in Melbourne and it looked hot!! I can’t wait for it to come out in Australia! I do love Bummblebee though.
