2009 Audi A1 Speedster Cabriolet Q1 CGI
April 23, 2008 by Alborz Fallah
The Audi 1 range is expected to be launched early to mid next year but before that happens, we have got our selves on some Computer Generated Images of the entire 1 range, which includes the standard A1, Speedster, Cabriolet and Q1.

The A1 is based on the Audi MQB (Modular Transverse Matrix) platform and is expected to take on BMW’s Mini. It will be built at the Volkswagen Group factory in Brussels, Belgium.

CarAdvice initially brought you the A1 in its Metroproject quattro concept form, but things have changed a little bit since then.

While the concept featured a new hybrid powertrain (29.8kw electric motor) attached to the Golf GT’s twincharged 1.4 L (110.4 kW) engine, the standard A1 range will no doubt be available with conventional engines.

The Q1 will go head to head with Mini’s new offroader. While the Speedster and Cabriolet will complete the lineup.
Little else is known about upcoming the A1 range.

This is one ugly little pumpkin, just as I was getting all excited yesterday about the same company’s Q5. Makes even the noddy-like BMW 1 series coupe look slightly graceful.
Maybe these Germans should just stop trying to cover all the segments which don’t really exist, because with this size of car the Asians do it so much better and so much more afforably.
The Coupe Looks like German version of a Hyundai Accent Whilst the cabrio looks like a German version of the Lexii SC430 [and equally as ugly too]
Yep agree – ugly and all out of proportion with the exeception of the Q1.
Dont mind the Q1 or the A1.
But the A1 (i think) the side of the car looks so similar to the Fiat 500.
As a designer I really liked the images of the A1 Cabriolet – it reminds me of the Karmann-Ghia Cabriolet in the same way that the original TT reminded me of the 356 Porsche. Audi designers really know how to draw a direct line to connect automotive heritage through past and future. I know the design will change before it hits the showroom but they have created the next generation of design for the bottom feeders to copy.
GOLDLADER…. much enjoyed your comments. I, myself, am a professional graphic designer. So… I, also, know what looks good, and technically, WHY.
It is so so good to see comments by someone who actually knows what they are talking about.
Very nice observations.
AND I really like this new design approach, of the A1…. in all the prospects I have seen.
And the Speedster (Spyder?) I also really like. That would be awesome in a soft hybrid form.
Ooops… I meant that for RON EDGAR.
I don’t understand why Audi so desperately wants to compete with BMW on each and every level.
I know Audi as the manufacturer of the most classy, robust and performant middle class and luxury cars, which, agreed, is partly the scope of BMW as well. But that should not necessarily imply that Audi has follow BMW to the gates of hell if they would?????
Also, BMW got the Mini through acquisition, and it is a different BRAND, with a different image and target crowd (students, young girls,…). This is not the case for Audi, where the veritable reputation and placement of the brand is put at stake. I think this is poor marketing, and although I am an Audi driver and loving it, I think the Mini’s are way cooler than this little booger…
