Maybach 62S diamond special unveiled

Maybach has unveiled a special diamond-encrusted Maybach 62S at the Cannes Film Festival in France. The car will be on show at the Dubai International Motor Show in November.

The special Maybach was designed by Fawaz Grusoi, head of the De Grisogono jewellery company. It features exquisite diamonds embedded into the dash veneers and around the centre console in the rear seats. Black diamonds in the rear are also engraved with the brand's motif and initials.

Hundreds of diamonds were apparently used in the creation of this super-luxurious land yacht, and it's unknown how much the car is actually worth. With the standard Maybach 62 price already near the $1 million mark, this prestigious example is said to push it well above that.

De Grisogono and Maybach are apparently looking into more jewel-inspired individualisation options for Maybach customers, including the use of gemstones on things such as the steering wheel and gear lever. Obviously for those who have so much money they don't know what to do with it.
