Car Advice

Australia’s number 1 car blog

By Alborz Fallah |

It’s not often I write a promotional piece for CarAdvice, our competitors and their multimillion dollar budgets have been quick to dismiss us for a long time, but we have been here for less than 2 years and have managed some extraordinary things. And now, dare I say, it’s official.

Australia’s number 1 car blog

Last weekend’s Courier Mail ran a segment on the top blogs in Australia, specifically, the top 10. We are honoured to take the best motoring blog award and also be included in the top 10 list. Many thanks to all of you, our loyal visitors.

Two years down, many many more years to come. Make sure you click on the image above to see the other top 9 blogs, all worthy of a visit.

It’s all due to my classy posts :)

    • Tim Schneideman

Just a very quick comment about a dodgy second hand car parts dealer in Seventeen Mile Rocks Queensland. Selling me parts for a 2000 car then sending me ones from an 06/1998 car which he knew were not going to fit. Does not reply to e-mails so lodging a complaint to Fair Trading – as others have done and (I have learnt, are doing). The firm: All Automotive Import Parts or AAIP.Deal with at your peril.

  • Hmm…

Good work guys – proud to be part of this site and seen it grow over the 1.5 years i’ve been on here…

  • http://realcarsbigpond.net realcars

u deserve it. Your reviews are excellent.

  • BurtROS

no surprises here, since I found this site some 6 months ago, i’ve canceled my subscription to both wheels and motor, why read something a month late when you can read it the day it happens (and ITS FREE!)?

Besides, everyone knows the big guys will never say anything bad about their advertisers (Holden/Ford etc) so anything they write is practically useless… You guys bagged the TRD aurion when there where ads for it on the site. Thats called honesty.

    Keep up the good work.

  • Captain Mainwaring

    Well done boys.

  • Joober

Well done, this website gets updated frequently and have good reviews so its all good!

  • Max

  • http://www.caradvice.com.au/ alborz

Not sure what the comment was suppose to suggest Max, still trying to work that one out, perhaps one of our users calls him self mark webber?

  • Bavarian Missile

  • http://. Naughtyius Maximus

Well done lads – including; but not limited to:

    1. Top reviews on a regular basis
    2. Great pics on a regular basis
    3. Stories with bite and clarity on cars (and not own ego) on a regular basis
    4. The most important one is you involve yourself in review and respond and join in…..this means it augers well as you do “not” carry your nose higher and treat people with respect, unlike other websites
    5. Call a spade a spade and no beating around the bush

CONGRATS GUYS AND KEEP THE DREAM ALIVE!

  • http://. Naughtyius Maximus

NATHAN……dont single out TRD here, as it is that opinion elsewhere. They called it like they saw it….and not called it with there wallet from promos with certain conditions forced on them from car manufacturers!

  • http://. Naughtyius Maximus

…..oh and participation with videos as with practice makes perfect and they are getting cool as one does not award Academy Awards but more so award guts to talk about real issues and real cars with the glitz glam of others!

  • http://. Naughtyius Maximus

typo……..without the glitz and glam of others!

  • Jimbo

Well done, car advive. The best car blog I have found on the net.

  • http://. Naughtyius Maximus

FOOTNOTE….keep us in tune with future models as that is vital to see what look, style and technology is around corner as all car enthusiasts want that! Not many websites do it…………til CARADVICE!

  • Oz.

As a Ford fan it is obvious that I’m suggesting this site should do it’s own video review of the FG Falcon!

  • c1ockwork

Jeez, I could have told you that! :-)

    Congratulation on the formal recognition.

  • Carl

    Congratulations!!!

I’ve only been onto this site for 2 or 3 months but have enjoyed it immensely!!!

  • Casey

Congratulations guys. Despite all the trials and budget constraints you’ve so often alluded to, CarAdvice still manages to beat the big guys at their own game (in my humble opinion). Don’t change a thing, well done!

  • http://Citroen Boggy

Congrats Guys i love your site and as i am in the motor industry i refer clients to it on a daily basis because your reviews are a very easy and entertaining read without constant bias . I wish you all more success Cheers !!

  • http://www.myspace.com/tjantilag Tom Jakovljevic

Well done guys. The success is well and truly deserved. Being from the western side of the continent, I am lucky enough to now be able call Karl a friend. His passion for cars is obviously shared by all staff on here, and it translates into a fantastic site.

Happy to have been lucky enough to throw a few bits of content in too.

  • Kris

    Congratulations guys, well deserved.

  • http://ozmazdaclub.com David (OMC)

Well deserved as I use info on here about Mazda’s and link it to my website Ozmazdaclub.com

The website is easy to use and very informative

    Thank you.

Good work, gentlemen/ladies. I work in the automotive industry and use this site as a daily news source. I’ve been visiting regularly (albeit, without comment) for about a year now and am constantly impressed with the speed, accuracy, and neutrality of reports. It’s just a shame that the discussion of articles is let down by a select few who consistently engage in childish, one-eyed, “brand X is the best, everything else is complete $h|t” arguments and bickering. If this sort of behaviour were moderated more stringently, the resulting higher quality of discussion would turn what is a very good site into an outstanding one.

  • Mitch

Nice work guys, how many visiters you getting a month?

  • Phill

    Go Car Advice

  • Phillip

Congrats guys! Your site is always my first point of reference when checking out cars as you seem to actually have a passion for what you write about.

Another publication which I won’t mention seems to just tick boxes and then recommend some dull box on wheels with woeful driving dynamics. You guys seem to be more capable of seeing past the airbag, kw, rear shoulder room counts and actually report on how the car makes you feel, which lets face it is probably the most important thing.

  • NIK516

YOU GUYS AND GIRLS DESERVE EVERY BIT OF IT.
    KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.

  • No Name

Good Oh folks – you deserve it after all that so called hard work flying to Europe testing fabulous supercars!!!

Funny Dingo nor TP have made comments on this. Are they really on the payroll?

  • http://carbarter.com.au John

I couldn’t think of anyone more deserving. Congrats.

Guys, i have a 7 month old 2009 Hyundai I30 Petrol Auto. done 7884 Kms. Using 10.8 -12.4 litres per100 kms metro running. Took to dealer after 4.5 months for diagnostic tests but no problems shown up.
I spit chips when I read advertisements on great economy etc.
Car fine otherwise. Any tips or experience of similar fuel consumption.?
Taking on country run over next few days.
    Thanks

  • Gan Tan

    Great work guys!

I used to go to carsguide\drive etc, but there was never any real interaction between publishers and readers.

Glad to see writers who really love their cars have an outlet

Stay honest and not one-eyed to brands (Cough Wheels|Holden)

I knew you guys will Surely Ace the Space, but still More to go. Congrats BTW!!

One advantage you have here is the blogs are not connected to face book or twitter. What is blogged here stays here

  • Rex

This is my go to website for car news. But if I may offer some feedback, a few times you run articles that are clearly paid for advertorials (a couple of Skoda pieces spring to mind). Nothing wrong with paying the bills, but a little bit of disclosure would be nice.
Also, having comments disabled for certain articles (Aston Martin seems to be the main recipient of this) also makes articles look very flimsy. If a manufacture is unwilling to hear ANY feedback, don’t give them the free advertising by doing stories on their vehicles.
Apart from these small complaints, you guys run a great website. Keep up the good work.
