hmmm suburbia; roads ,vehicles, trucks,aeroplanes.Which one doesn’t belong?
If its a size thing why aren’t you on a motorbike.I would love to be able to have a vehicle for every occasion. I cant, so i get one that can do the things i want it to in the places i want it to and carry the things i need it to.
If you are one of those people that sit in the overtaking lane and dont ,then i am sorry that you feel the need to impose your will on others by being so very righteous.

Tony has got it right. 4×4’s do not belong in suburbia. In fact if one were right up my bumper I would just continue at the same speed and not give a sh*t. 9/10 they are ugly cars and are definately a persons way to make up for shortcomings in other areas, then they get all righteous when you try and dispute this as it is so engraved in their social inferiority syndrome. It is much the same as being rich, the responsibility is not part of the bottom line, the bottom line is they can. I am much happier in my little hatchback when due to its simplicity and manual gearbox can handle most bad 2wd roads and a similar vehicle with perhaps some tweaks could take on 4wd tracks and as its a small car its actually ideal in tight areas so i dont get the whole big thing with 4×4’s.

Like it or not but this big, some say ugly, suv is not only a better than average for door sports car but also a better then average off road 4×4. It can go as fast as most benz’s and handle better than most benz’s too. It can off road as good as any stock suv or truck. Although the big brakes and sports rims are not good for mud or rock tires it needs them to go the top speed of 280kph. So its like a sports car that can off road. Its at home on and off road. Yes it would be cheeper to buy a sports car and a bush beater but then you would have to get a bigger garage. So asking porsche why did you make it? Is like asking mercedes why they would put a sun roof in a convertable. Because they can. Something that people with lots of money like. Thats why people will continue to buy it because they can. And porsche will continue to make so so much money off there big cayenne.

I don’t think that I have ever liked the Cayennes at all. Porsche has a luxury sports car niche. You know one when you see one without a second look. This isn’t the case any longer. Who were they trying to get to buy this SUV. The customers of BMW and Mercedes? Their money would have been spent focusing on body changes and technology that is specific to the wants and “needs” of their demographic.

Where would we be without you – you know I live a sheltered life, you know everything, it seems. And now you’ve told me that I lead a sheltered life, I know so much more about myself than I did before.

Ah yes jbot you’re right. I confused max boot load weight with max tow weight, my bad. It can tow 3.5 tonne, which does make it more useful in my eyes.

Yes it would be better off road with better tyres, however with those size brake rotors, you aren’t going to be able to fit a sufficiently chunky tyre in those wheel arches for serious off-road.

I agree with positive sentiments towards this vehicle… yes its pricey, but its the fatest SUV in the world!!! How much is the fastest car in the world again? Motorbike riders would have you believe thats stupid, $1mil for a car that accelerates prity much the same as a $25k motorbike!

Reckless1, tragiclly you live a sheltered life. In my day job, which does cross the boundaries of evenings and days and weeks, I am a surveyor who goes bush 4×4, Toyota Land Cruiser. It’s great to go bush and use satellite navigation. You see I’ve been doing this for 30 plus years. I haven’t just discovered this in the last 15 years. But I do know that everything has its place and that’s why I drive a car in the suburbs and a 4×4 in the country. It’s clear to me you can’t afford to do both so you have one vehicle to do everything. Mate there is so much to see out in the bush and when you are paid to do it, what more can I say. And you are right, we do live in a free country with freedom of choice.

Mate, you are clearly deluded. The Cayenne Turbo can tow 3.5 tonnes, so I’m guessing this thing is the same. But thats not much is it, 3.5t, so its not a proper SUV.. LOL, thats as much as the Landcruiser can tow… Can anything sold in Oz tow more??

If someone did actually take it offroad, they’d but other tyres, and it would be very capable…

Tony, it’s you who doesn’t get it. I live in suburbia and drive a 4wd, have done for 15 years. And I’ll continue to do so, whether you like it or not.

I do that because on the weekends, I like to go bush, through the Vic High Country trails, through the rivers, and every now and then I like to go to Cape York via the Telegraph track, towing my Camper Trailer, or across the Simpson Desert.

So you can stick your anti 4×4 views where the sun doesn’t shine, because last time I looked, Australia had freedom of choice.

You have the freedom to be anti 4×4, and I have the freedom to be pro 4×4.

The Cayenne rocks, so does the Touareg, the Landcruiser, and all similar vehicles too. But the Defender is a pig, and some people will buy one because they like pigs. too bad for you that most of them will reside in suburbia.

You don’t get it Reckless1. I am anti 4×4 in suburbia. I don’t care if you drive a FPV F6 X Territory or a Porsche Cayenne Turbo, I don’t want them on suburban streets. 4×4 where designed to work in the bush not to be driven around suburbian obstructing the vision of normal drivers. If you have the money to spend on a vehicle of this type then drive where it was supposed to be driven. And if it can’t be driven there because it can’t hack it then whose the drop kick, the guy who goes gaga when they see these type of vehicles or the guys who can see just how useless they really are.

Thanks reckless, but no, its just average in size I’m afraid. Look as an engineer I’m impressed that porsche has managed to make a 2.5 tonne SUV handle like a sports car, but you are paying that much money for as TJ said an almost car, almost everything, but still nothing. Not a proper SUV as it has bugger all towing ability, off-road ability or even space. Not a sports car because it wears 2.5 tonnes and doesn’t handle like a 911 or a R8. Not a family transport because it struggles to fit 5 with luggage. It has the same boot space seats up or down as a C class estate, which gets criticised as being too small. At least a hummer is good off-road so it has a purpose, this has none other than to show how much money you actually have to waste, because wasting is what you’re doing with this version.

So the only appeal is the external size and badge, and if thats the mentality that its worth $265k then there are some definite issues with perceived inadequacy in some part of your life being shown.

Am I the only one that can’t see the point of this car? As for the territory F6 comments, sure $75k is expensive, but this is $243k, or over 3 times as expensive. Thats a lot for a SUV that barely sits 5, can’t go offroad because of the low profile 21in wheels, and with huge amounts of technology and subsequent cost just to enable it to handle like a normal car.

I mean I get really awesome fast cars, but if you want something that barely sits 5 and goes from 0 – 100kmh in 4.8s, get a C63 or something and save yourself the over $110k. Thats a lot of money you can put towards penile enlargement surgery and actually fix the underlying issue rather than this band-aid solution to your insecurities about your manhood.

Tom interesting insight… I think its a great car for what it is, the day a huge SUV is fast is a good say as far as Im concerned, and 4.8seconds is crazy fast for a vehicle of that size!

This is an almost car

Almost a sports car – but its too big to handle right.

Almost a 4wd – competent but no one will take it off road for anything serious

Almost a luxury car – but people shouldnt have to climb in or out of one.

So its a really good exercise by Porka to sell a car that shouldnt really exist.
