Protoscar Lampo3 electric sports car unveiled

Swiss-based electric vehicle manufacturer Protoscar has just unveiled its third-generation sports car concept: the Protoscar Lampo3.

The Lampo3 is a 2+2 coupe with a removable Targa roof and a set of performance numbers to rival the world’s greatest supercars.

How does 420kW of power and 900Nm of torque sound? A 32kWh lithium-ion battery sends power to three electric motors – two mounted on the rear axle, one on the front axle – which gives the Lampo3 the added performance of all-wheel drive.

Protoscar says the Lampo3 accelerates from 0-100km/h in 4.5 seconds and will hit a top speed of 220km/h.

When driven more sedately, the Lampo3 has a battery range of 200km. It can be recharged using a range of different power supplies and connections, including a fast-charge method, which can add 100km of range in 10 minutes if the battery is between 20 and 80 percent capacity.

Protoscar says it is proud that the Lampo3 has been developed from the ‘top down’ rather than the traditional ‘ground up’ approach.

It admits the exterior design was the most important aspect of the vehicle, aiming – unlike most EVs – to connect emotionally with drivers.

The Lampo3 is the result of 24 years of development under the brand’s ‘CleanCar’ project and has been subjected to 30,000km of real-world testing.

The Protoscar Lampo3 (‘Lampo’ means ‘lightning’ in Italian) is only a one-off concept at this stage, but the Swiss manufacturer is reportedly considering a limited production run for the future.
