2009 BMW 7-Series CGI
April 17, 2008 by Alborz Fallah
Our computer graphic artists have photoshopped what we believe the new-generation BMW 7-Series will look like.
The new luxury sedan will take on the likes of Mercedes-Benz S Class, Audi A8 and the newest contender, the Japanese made hybrid Lexus LS600hl.
So far little concrete information is known about BMW’s latest creation, but rumours suggest the German powerhouse will be introducing a new iDrive system with the 7-series, which will eventually trickle down to the rest of the BMW range.
BMW Australia’s communication manager, Toni Andreevski, told CarAdvice to expect the new 7-series in Australia in the first half of 2009, however he would not comment on engine variants or other specifications.
BMW fans around the world are currently discussing the new 7, hoping that the infamous bangle-butt of the current range will be restyled. Rumour has it the new 7-series will also sport an 8-speed automatic transmission to take on Lexus in the numbers game.
Looking at our spy photos of the new 7-series, it’s clear that BMW has gone for a more conservative and classic design this time around.

What’s up with BMW and these ugly designs?????
Why does exquisite engineering have ruined buy tasteless designers?????……..Sorry BM but this thing is UGLY to the point of being Subaruesque…..and yes i know that’s not a real word!!!
in my eyes way to conservative i relaly like the current model
^^^^^meant “have to be ruined”^^^^^^
and ***********Primo************
Looks quite bland and boring so would want to drive brilliantly against the competition if it,s going to succeed, we expect more from bmw these days than more of the same design theme its getting boring and old now, look at the new jag looks fantastic but it took going away from there usual design theme to make it possible..
Not a fan at all! The front looks like the face of a pig! haha!
im sorry, your cgi artists?, i saw this up on Autoblog yesterday…
owwwwwwww. Looks like the old 7 series had a 3 some…….someone locked a Volvo and a Jag designer in the same room with Bangle……..Dont shrink it and give it to us as the next 3 series.I guess the 5 is next in line though so with a bit of luck and some real styling by the time they get to the 3 series they would have got their crap together! Then again Im yet to like any 7 series ever! Why didn’t they take more styling from the CS concept, they seemed to have used the
vents in the guards/door idea which is very snappy!
I really like the current generation BMWs i think Cris bangle did a great job shaping BMW into a distinctive modern brand, the models looked 1st class and purposeful.
I loved them.
To go more conservative is like going backwards, u dont down play ur designs you evolve them into the next generation. So basically in 2 generations we will have the same BMWs we have now.
Thats how i feel.
But more to the point that 7 series comgen is just rediculous to the fact i think its a generic chinese wanna be executive model
O a final word on it……….I know you don’t look at the mantle piece when your pokin the fire hell that actor guy didn’t when he joined the mile high club with that but ugly hosty………but to ever get in this car you would have to sneak up from behind so you don’t scare yourself when trying to get in!Ya think I don’t like it???????hahaha
Anti spam word was DB9 now thats a good looking car
The BMW styling works on their small cars but gets progressively worse as it applied to the big models.
AU falcon roof line.
Why is everybody insulting this picture? Yes it is ugly but this is a CGI, not the real thing.
I´ve seen the final design of the new BMW 7 and the photo on the top is not the real deal.
The headlights look more like the ones from the cs concept car.
It probably won’t look too bad in the flesh. Problem with this car is that it will have very poor depreciation like the models before it, and that has gotta hurt when you are paying $200,000+ for one. Makes for a fantastic second hand buy though.
seen the new model aswell and althoguh some bits are right its not quite there but that little air intake thing is still there thoguh
Forgot to add, this Pg dope probably couldn’t steer his way out of a ‘drive through’ without collecting the order mic. Worse still, he probably fancies himself as ‘could have, would have, should have’ F1 test driver. lol.
Sorry, I’m on a roll and loving it. This Pg fool becomes more foolish by the minute. He mentions print media. OMG. Who in their right mind would be in print media in the automotive world these days. I guess someone from the last century. Does he realise, that online automotive sites influence a whopping 60% plus, of all new car purchases which of course, is more than both print and TV combined! lol X 10
Print media will always have its place, Anthonia.
I have hundreds of copies of WHEELS and CAR magazines collected over thirty years that provide ready access to beautiful, skilfully written articles from the likes of legends such as LKJ Setright, Ronald Barker, George Bishop, Peter Robinson, Steve Cropley, Romsey Quints, Evan Green and too many more to mention. The writers’ craft is still important to some of us, even in this modern day of the information grab.
The 1975 scoop shots of the model of our first car that was unveiled in 1978 will always provide interest and joy when you’re holding the magazine, but will fade away eternally into the online abyss in 60 days.
These sorts of things aren’t available here or at Carpoint or Drive. If you enjoy writing for writing’s sake, you’ll always be thankful for the magazine, the log fire and the port.
Oh My God! Someone must have written that for him, surely!
Anthonia, pg no re makes a pretty good point. These images were on Autoblog a day before they were on here. Ranting like you did while ignoring the facts makes you the dope my friend.
Guys, these images are our own property, we have Australian exclusive rights to them, as we pay for them and pay a lot – trust me! Autoblog have the American rights.
We got them the same time as AutoBlog, however as I was waiting for a reply from BMW AU, it took longer to post!
Hope that clears it!
I’m not going to argue with you TRD, as I still collect the occasional mag myself but have a look at the online mag, WindingRoad.com
Print magazines have been falling in circulation for years in Australia, partly due to a raft of Euro mags on our shelves and of course car magazines have to compete with the net, which does not have a cover price!
Well i have to say if the 7 series does look like this, it doesnt look good for the 7 series!
whaaaaaaaaat …is that realy bm? or one of the india toy car?
From sides looks like Honda Accord :/
& the rare looks so LEXUS LS460
now from the front, its pure Jaguar XJ
plenty of copies I see, sounds like BMW is outta ideas just like Mercedes-Benz S-Class interior.
