Considering the demographic on who is driving these cars and the crap tyres they come out with I think it is a great idea for ESP to be std.
A great little car and will be sorry to see it go.

Chad.....i haven't driven the i30 diesel but every review I've read has been a glowing one....and is definitely more frugal than a petrol Corolla!!!

I'd buy one if i were looking for that size vehicle, but i need a wagon which Hyundai will eventually bring to OZ but still a bit small for me.

Frugal One,

Be careful the Corolla is not very FRUGAL if as your name suggests that's important to you??? in fact I've found the smaller Yaris 1.5 Auto to like up to 10 litres of unleaded around town and with the SAME type of driving my LPG Falcon uses around 19 litres of GAS or less!!!....if not go ahead because as you said resale value will be pretty good!!!

Joe_Public

APPLAUSE.......

You are 100% correct, the simple FACT is that the Corolla is the ONLY hatch to buy, the loss on buying is smaller than ANY-OTHER-HATCH.

The i30 is a $15k vehicle in my book, not a hope in hell of paying Corolla money for one of those, you would be a wood-duck to do so.With the DIEsel even more so.

I see at the auctions taking into consideration differences in purchase price the Corolla is already worth $2k more after less than just 12 months. The difference will get bigger and bigger.

Korean car = better way for $ tearup!

Auto/Air Corolla = GOLD

Corolla update [August] will most likely be our next new car

Cheers

Despite Hyundai providing freebies (free auto/ESP/Upgrade 3 to 5 doors) every 6 months of periodic offers ie. Nov/Dec (half year sales) & May/Jun (Year-end close), the resale residuals are very poor when comes to selling your Hyundai car on the 2nd hand market. It's worse when compared to the Japanese brands.

The only consolation is that Hyundai is the best Korean brand in the market at the moment - beating the likes of KIA, Ssangyong & Holden(Daiwoo-built models - Barina, Viva, Epica, Captiva).

It has provided good value for money cars. Hyundai recently tried to shift up-market their pricing on their re-modelled cars like the Elantra HD but sales has suffered compared to the previous model.

Realcars,
let me just reiterate that i think ESP is a great bit of technology, but i think its a bit sad when when the world is slowly turning to a point where no body has a responsibility for anything what so ever

RD,
ESP isnt designed to work when you swerve at 100kmh onto gravel. (just ask Toyota)
