...and that should ring some alarms in Japan. Australians are slowly coming around. Congrats on your purchase. I am considering the iLoad to replace my D40 Navara.

The police are using these (iLoad) up here now so they can't be too bad. I visited a forum of owners and they all seem very happy.

Thank you for your comments. Even though it comes with standard reversing sensors I agree the reversing camera is essential and will be fitted as soon as I find a decent one (recommendations welcome!)

We found this iMax for sale in Newcastle so drove from Sydney to test drive it. I expected the drive would be "okay" and had average expectations. After both my wife and I drove it, we were astonished at how good it was. I could not believe it. The five speed auto is very smooth. I can't wait to take delivery on Friday and drive to Canberra!

Many friends rave about their Hyundais so now we are a convert. I hope it does not disappoint. Now I'm selling my Toyota Spacia but keeping my little Mercedes-Benz.

Congratulations on buying your new car Matt,

iMax is definitely an excellent people mover with a good disel engine and above all 'Hyundai reliability'.

But you do need a reversing camera or sensors as its high seating position does not allow you to see things behind especially if they are not tall enough to be seen through the rear window.

Once you fit it, then you are ready to go!

Regards,

I just test drove an iMax turbodiesel with 5 speed auto and was so impressed I'm buying it. It is great to drive, good turning circle too. Buying it second hand from a dealer; it's only 5 months old but comes with a 7 year warranty.

2009 model includes rear wiper, audio controls on the steering wheel and arm rests on front seat. Only downside is lack of cruise control but may fit aftermarket, along with reversing camera.

Impressed by the solid construction, the doors need little effort to close and do so with a reassuring solid "thunk".

We are expecting our 4th child in July and my company vehicle lease conveniently finishes in August thereby allowing me to upsize from my current VE Commodore to a People Mover.

At this stage I have set my eyes on the iMax. I'm not phased of the inability to fold down the rear seats as these seats will be fully utilised 100% of the time - 2 kids will be in booster seats and the other 2 in baby capsules. The large luggage space allows plenty of room for a double pram, a portable cot, nappy bags, etc. This storage capacity would never be achievable in a 7 seat SUV. Best of all it has a diesel engine and now comes with a five speed automatic. All this for around $40k.

Personally, I don't like the look of People Mover vhicles however, I like their practicality for large families.

My family of 6 hired an imax from Budget for a week to drive around Melbourne. We loved it. It took all our luggage and still there was plenty of room. It drove through that crazy traffic like a zippy small car.
