i am amazed that people who post threads on this page are so misinformed and naive. driving a stock standard 2002 BA XT 4.0L in a sane way will provide equal if not even better drive which is more comfortable and softer, at the same time quieter.
the BA/BF Falcons are much better cars than FG. Not only that they are cheaper now, but performance wise equal, and in real life neck to neck battle a stock 5 speed auto FG XT -vs- stock 4 speed BA XT , the reality is that both will do 7.0-7.1 s 0-100km/h in base model guise since they are super light and free of fancy equipment. The thing about FG is that its "DIFFERENT" , but has the same DNA as BA/BF. It has an engine that is 95-100% the same and the power difference is unnoticeable on the road, the six speed versions of BF and FG make them feel quicker, but in reality the final speed is always benchmarked on an old 4 speed auto, at least for now, it may change in the future.
So at the end of the day, whether you jump in to a BA XT, Fairmont, or Ghia models, or a BF XT or Ghia or SR,ES or a ute powered by a 4.0L N/A motor, you'll end up being confused because they are "THE SAME THING", just different package, one different to another, yet the same in many ways. At the end of the day, they are all great cars, superior to other vehicles when it comes to reliability and value for money.

I currently own G6E Turbo, fully tuned , it makes 363.3rwkW with boost increased, bigger inter-cooler, 4 spot brake all four brake caliper upgrade, lowered, gear ratio changed from 2.73:1 to 3.45:1 from BA MKII XR6 Turbo.

0-100km/h 4.2s
400m 10.5s
top speed 326km/h at 6000rpm

wow we are the proud owner of the new xr6 octain in colour. Always a ford owner we did look at the commodores my son bought a ss wagon.I love our car it handles well great suspension, very cheap to run. Think its the only family car that has the 5 star rating . The only thing that ford have done it take the fun out of having a sports car there is no noise lol . They would sound so wonderful with a sports exhaust apart from that . We are so pleased with everything.Handling . Comfort.Reailibilty. Its just a wondderful car well done ford

This is my first venture into the 6 cylinder for some time and I agonised over the decision to go 6 or 4 for quite a while.
I am totally loving driving the car and am very happy with my decision to go for the XR6.
It is not always about the speed a car can reach but the overall ride and comfort of the car. It is good to know that when needed the XR6 has the grunt to get you out of a sticky situation.
Driven responsibly and I believe the roads will be safer and I will have a great car for many years.

I still find it hard to imagine that my stock XT BA 2002 beats my brand new XR6 FG by half a car lenght 0-100km/h and by one full car lenght from 100-200km/h before the XT cuts out at 200km/h!

I was so very keen to buy a BF mk II. Until i saw the FG's.

Well done ford and well done Car Advice for the awesome photos. I love driving and spend alot in my car so the interior means, i think even more the exterior.

One of the decisions i will have to make is do i pay the extra $5400 luxury pack? I also love that they have an "intergeatred ipod" option not just some silly AUX in.

The blue looks great if only they had of kept with "bionic" that was HOT.

One question though will they hold thire value better then the BAs and BFs

Suck it holden FG over VE anyday.

Much better than the SV6 IMHO. The SV6 gets dogged by the entry level seats and not the bolstered SS seats. The XR6 does get the sports seats. The XR6 also has the option to upgrade the sound system with colour screen. An option the SV6 and SS cannot have. Although 18's would have been good as a no cost option.
