2008 Ford FG Falcon XR6 specifications
April 14, 2008 by Alborz Fallah
The new FG Falcon XR range begins with the entry model, naturally aspirated, XR6. Although Ford built its reputation with the XR6 Turbo, the standard XR6 also performed well in the showroom.
Based on the XT Falcon, the XR6 incorporates a host of sporty and performance features. The XR6 is now available with a Tremec six-speed manual transmission as standard – with the option of either the five-speed automatic or the ZF six-speed automatic transmissions – and sports suspension.
Our first impression of the new manual six-speed has been nothing but positive, it’s an absolute pleasure to drive. Have a read of our first steer here.
Following on from decades of tradition, the XR6 receives the signature XR double-drop lens headlight treatment, XR front bumper, grille and rockers, front fog lamps and unique 17-inch alloy wheels.
The interior is differentiated by a sports instrument cluster, sports seats, alloy pedal covers and an aluminium gear shifter on manual transmission models, with reverse camera and reverse sensing systems available as options.
The XR6T retails for $39,990. Options include XR 18″ alloys for $1,000 or the XR luxury pack $5,400 which includes leather interior, updated sound system, dualzone aircon and 19″ alloys.

Geeeeeeee….not alot of people must not like this article……..
Well I’m liking this article.
GO FORD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
would have been so much better if this article covered this version, but the one with the bigger boot.
you know, the ute (hint hint)…………
when are the ute writeups coming caradvice?????
i want my ute, i want my ute, i want my ute!!!!!!!!!
Anti Spam word – holden. Are holden trying to hack these articles?
I like the look of the xr6 especially in that colour.
But come on – turbo.
Much better than the SV6 IMHO. The SV6 gets dogged by the entry level seats and not the bolstered SS seats. The XR6 does get the sports seats. The XR6 also has the option to upgrade the sound system with colour screen. An option the SV6 and SS cannot have. Although 18’s would have been good as a no cost option.
Well done Ford…
I was so very keen to buy a BF mk II. Until i saw the FG’s.
Well done ford and well done Car Advice for the awesome photos. I love driving and spend alot in my car so the interior means, i think even more the exterior.
One of the decisions i will have to make is do i pay the extra $5400 luxury pack? I also love that they have an “intergeatred ipod” option not just some silly AUX in.
The blue looks great if only they had of kept with “bionic” that was HOT.
One question though will they hold thire value better then the BAs and BFs
Suck it holden FG over VE anyday.
I still find it hard to imagine that my stock XT BA 2002 beats my brand new XR6 FG by half a car lenght 0-100km/h and by one full car lenght from 100-200km/h before the XT cuts out at 200km/h!
This is my first venture into the 6 cylinder for some time and I agonised over the decision to go 6 or 4 for quite a while.
I am totally loving driving the car and am very happy with my decision to go for the XR6.
It is not always about the speed a car can reach but the overall ride and comfort of the car. It is good to know that when needed the XR6 has the grunt to get you out of a sticky situation.
Driven responsibly and I believe the roads will be safer and I will have a great car for many years.
wow we are the proud owner of the new xr6 octain in colour. Always a ford owner we did look at the commodores my son bought a ss wagon.I love our car it handles well great suspension, very cheap to run. Think its the only family car that has the 5 star rating . The only thing that ford have done it take the fun out of having a sports car there is no noise lol . They would sound so wonderful with a sports exhaust apart from that . We are so pleased with everything.Handling . Comfort.Reailibilty. Its just a wondderful car well done ford
