This is the sort of car i like brilliant, gas guzzling and ground shaking 427 V8 . If your concerned about the fuel price and enviroment then go buy a spiggin toycar er toyota. As for you Ford people stop dreaming and get over it. This is the fastest Australian car ever built and i mean ever !!! Who the hell wants a Falcon 6 pot with a hair dyrer attached to the motor to pump out more power ? Jesus h christ stop whinging you Ford lovers. A muscle car is defined by the big honking V8 under the hood, not a turbo 4 pot rice burner or a Falcon 6 pot with with a hair dyrer on the side of the motor. Watch the GT production races in Australia , how many XR6 turbo Falcons get their asses kicked each race by a standed Commodore SS V8 ? I don't think an XR6 Turbo falcon has won a race yet. Put this the W427 along side the FG FPV F6 at the top of conrod straight at bathurst and wait at the bottom , the W427 will be there long before the FG FPV F6 and atleast 3 car lengths in front !!!

If it does come to the UK, which is unlikely, Holden should definately push for it to be badged H and not vauxhall, it's not that v is bad just run of the mill. For a big V8 to sell it has to be different. Not sure why it wouldn't be suited to British roads...how big a road do you need?
The vxr8 does relatively well because of the price, although it depriciates like hell, nobody will pay £55k for it though....

"xr6t is wat $45000new then u take it to nizpro n for $30000 u got 600kw"

Yeah but thats not the point. Get a VX for $20k and put $40k under the hood and your looking at 700kw+, but thats not a stock car.

Take the W427, add a twin turbo and you'd be looking at 800kw+...

People you are forgetting something important.

When you spend big dollars on a car, Last thing you give a shit about is fuel prices!.
If you did you would spend $17,000 on a Yaris.

Baloo, GM said they will make an option on the Vauxhall VXR8 (ClubSport R8 here) and offer a supercharger kit. It will take power up to 397kW from 307kW. That will make 0-100km time is 4.9 secs! Your lucky because i dont think Australia will get it.

Being from Scotland and my dad hearing news of this new on e with bigger engine, is putting is buying of VXR8 on hold! He's a bit confused now but I reckon he is better buying the VXR8 and put on that supercharger conversion.

Britian I feel is mainly a 4x4 big car group so it will have to struggle with Range Rover (Good) Porshes chaynne (crap, especially in winter, my 1.2l corsa does better).

I do however have a soft spot for big V8! Thank you Australia for taking American engines and making cars that actually go round corners, compared to what America can do!

To gibbo - you put HSV on our VXR Astra. Whats the difference? I don't know who would buy this car over something slightly smaller but with status, prestige, better build quality and much much more.

Whe it gets to the UK they will bolt a Supercharger to it they did with the Monaro and VXR8 before it. And Vauxhall will have the foresight to endorse it.

It doesn't mater how much kilowatts you have, what counts is how many newton meters you have at low revs. The 427 has most of their Nm at about 3000-3500rpm. This is why most of the stock HSV cars bog down and wheel spin when they take of. The Ford FPV F6, to come, has ALL of its Nm at 2000-2500rpm. At least 1000rpm before the 427 HSV. So it doesn't mater what the figures say and how big the numbers are unless you can control the power at the right revs all you have is a wheel spinning petrol gussling HSV. Great on a track, useless on the roads of England. Like I said prevously, this car will be for the collectors.

Holden must try to get this car into UK with Holden Badge, not with vauxhaull(i dont know how they spell it) i mean not many monaro owners know in UK that they are driving Holden with corvette engine. they thought its just another vauxhaul.

Maybe buy the 427 and wait 10yrs or so and you can sell it for 1million dollars plus as a collector lol, doubt u can do it with a XR6T.

As said before theres nothing like displacement in muscle cars, adding a turbo kinda defeats the N/A V8 raw power.

in all honest $130000 is a waste of money cause a xr6t is wat $45000new then u take it to nizpro n for $30000 u got 600kw plus n oh look it only cost $75000 n i can buy another xr6t and still have $5000 left over so i personally dont see the greatness of this new W427

oh n did any one n o that the first xr6t produced had 300kw but ford decided to dumb it down because they knew if they had of brought it out at 300kw the boss 260 n 290 would be dead

HSV have been able to get away with Bang For Your Buck claims in the past which as been true but when you ask for $150 000 odd dollars then the W427 must be crafted and across all facets of engineering that rival the prestiage characteristics of the performance cars from Audi, BMW, Merc and Lexus.

If HSV wants to elevate the W427 into the same price bracket then the car will be directly judged accordingly without the ability of claiming Bank For Your Buck when it dramatically falls short as i expect it to do.

Personally - i believe HSV are a bunch of fools and will come unstuck in a very embarrassing manner with the huge asking price for what is essentially nothing more then a dated tech 7.0l HSV.
