Build and Price your FG Falcon online

Ford Australia has updated its website so that potential buyers can now fully build and price their dream FG Falcon sedan or ute online.
Interestingly, the build process also includes a range of dealer-fit Mullins wheels, meaning buyers can now ‘bling’ their new car before it leaves the showroom.
Aside from Winter White and Vixen, it seems all other colours attract a $400 prestige premium - although this does not apply to the range topping G6E and G6E Turbo.
Ute buyers will have the choice of not one, but four hard tonneau covers all from EGR, as well as a soft cover and EGR sports bars ranging from $457 to $2,200.

The new FG Ford Falcon will be the first Australian-made car to score five stars in independent crash testing by the Australian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP).
A senior Ford executive confirmed exclusively to Drive(L) that the Falcon was a five-star safety performer ahead of today’s official media drive of the car in the Yarra Valley

All good and well but i personally wouldn’t buy an Aussie car brand new….I’ve bought Japanese cars brand new but i would wait 12 to 14 months and get one with less than 15k’s on the clock for 20 grand less!!!
Holden and Ford are ripping us off with what they can sell their cars for and still make a profit and what they are charging…the yanks get our Commodores a lot cheaper than we do!!….thank GOD for Fleet buyers i say

I didn’t think they’d changed enough from the BF too but not only did I see some great pics on Drive, I also saw one in the flesh. The 17″ wheels are too small for my liking but with the 18’s from the GE6 Turbo, any of the lower models would look great.

Anti spam word Maybach which is said to be disappearing, maybe its a sign with this article being about the Falcon.
I remember reading somewhere that cars without 6 airbags standard could not be awarded with 5 stars and considering the most popular model is usually the one tested ( in this case the Falcon XT) How can it be awarded 5 stars. Maybe its time the VE was retested now that the Omega gets fitted with standard 6 airbags compared to the 2 airbags it came with when launched.

This is now std on the new HSV’s now and possibly the Holden range to. A good adtiion for both makers though.
And with frosty the VE will quite easily get 5 stars now imo, It has the 6 airbags and holden should be able to give them a car for the pole test with the added side and curtains now.

The FG is more convincing in some colours than others, that Octane XR8 with those rims looks fabulous! Would Ford still put their logo in the centre cap of the Mullins wheels?

James………you dont get it do you? Car companies have to make money.It costs alot do develope a car you know. If you took off dealer delivery charges and all the taxes the actual car company doesnt make that much. Anyway if Australians stuck up for their own products they would be alot cheaper and it would help the whole country…….i am sick of hearing idiots on these blogs putting Ford down. There are as many happy\unhappy Ford owners as there are any other brand. The FG looks fantastic in the flesh, very stylish design.

the prices of the aussie makes versus the imports is comparible.
and when you further consider that they are produced in lesser numbers than those tailoring for the asian and european markets, they do a bloody good job to compete on prices
at the end of the day, if its too dear you dont buy it, whether it be a car or a plasma or someone asking $15 bucks for a pack of cornflakes.

Rick Harris the local brands are the problem, not helping it, having to protect the local industry means imports are far more expensive.
As for this online thing, I like it alot, especially the alloy wheels part, one thing Ford have done well (I guess they have to given its merely a BF in FG clothing)

Just because it has the a similar motor to the BF doesnt meant its the same. As everyone has said, 90% New is definitely not just a re-skin Job (assuming you mean Body when you say clothing).
You are merely giving your opinion (which is wrong).
Start stating facts. Prove to me you are actually knowledgeable (I hope you are) and not just a victim of primary school bullying who has an abnormal love for Toyota’s and is spitting out comments with no substance.

Amazing how many people still p!ss & moan about the styling and so on when most havnt seen it in the flesh. A good example is the real life pics posted by drive.com.au (sorry caradvice you guys rock as well) but the FG looks fantastic! Also wheels on G6E Trubo are 19s which is good to see, also leaves room for FG MkII to upgrade to 19s as std on Xr8 and so on. Otherthan that can’t wait for the full FPV range to immerge!

Interesting to see that none of the models seem to have intergrated sat nav. All of them have Garmin hand held units. Interesting, as I find that intergrated units look so much tidyer, and dont come with the incentive for thieves, which are breaking into record numbers of cars in Sydney (said on the news 2000 have been reported stolen, but I cant remember the time period for which it occured) to steal the sat nav units out of them.

TP just likes to stir people up with his ’stab in the dark’ comments, i wouldn’t take too much notice peoples!
The reality is if FG is BF as TP keeps rambling on about that would mean the current aurion/camry would be the previous camry/vienta underneath. Heck the previous 4cyl camry engine is carry over!
I agree with many that the real life pics of FG on drive.com certainly highlights the FG’s styling much better than the original press pictures.
Can’t wait for the reviews to start being released.

True Falcon/Commodore build quality is not amongst the germans but they are sure a lot better than anything from korea. The only reason that hyundai & kia have those huge warranties is because thats the only way they can sell them.

About the fuel economy on LPG, my new Falcon [its still a bit tight and running rich] is average 14L/100km which is worse than my old XH2 Ute used LESS than 12.5L/100km…
I hope the BF can loosen up over the next few 1000’s km and get around that figure, or BETTER [as in less]
Anyway even @ 14L/100km = $8.12
$8.12 of DIEsel is just 5.1L, what large vehicle with a 4L6 auto and big-aussie-grunt uses just 5.1L of DIEsel to do 100km in the city cycle…..

Mate, I just want one! Make mine an XR6T…5.1 sec to 100k/h is pretty darn good for a non-FPV Falcon!
Must admit I did originally think the styling was too similar to the BF, but on the road it looks fantastic. Perhaps it was just the BA/BF series design was ahead of its time, and the other manufacturers have only just started to catch up with the VE etc…

Bloody quick however/whoever you compare that to.
Pity you cannot get a turbo 6 ute with BENCH seat and on LPG! :-) = would be mine!

yes duck…. everyone knows that u think that Wheels mag said 300Kw for F6… but saying that if it has 300 or 310Kw…. it will distroy the VE GTS….
270Kw / 530Nm does 5.1 and 13.4
300Kw / 575Nm Does ??
GTS - 317Kw / 550Nm 5.0 and 13.5
HSV / Holden will be distroyed by the Ford turbo Sixes!!!!

if the new $46000 XR6 turbo is anything to go by the $60,000 FPV should be even better… considering the XR6turbo is Quicker then the beloved GTS…normal Ford Quicker then a HSV…. lol!

the F6 will should do 4.7-4.8 0-100Km/h
I love that fords $46,000 car is as faster a a $80,000 HSV…. Lol

G6E Turbo is seriously a classy weapon and arguably the best car in that price range. Will be interesting to see how things when Falcons entire powertrain range takes a bold new direction in 2010. What a heroic way for the inline six to bow out!!!

The Aurion is still faster then the Falcon, Aurion does 100 in 6.9seconds officially, 7.1seconds for Falcon is no doubt from Ford (ie not reliable).
I think you have problems when a $45k XR6T or XR8 doesnt come standard with curtain airbags, meanwhile lower competition such as Aurion has it standard on a $35k vehicle.

The media has just been given the opportunity to test the “Trim, Taut, Terrific new Falcon - The car you’ll stop to look at and like!” And the reviews are already looking pretty promising! :arrow: Now it’s time for me to ask you when caradvice.com.au gets it’s turn. Or has someone of this site already tested one and are about to post it? I sure hope so!

Talk about contradictions.
1. You say aurion does 6.9 officially? by Toyota? please post a link to a review that has aurion doing 6.9 secs to 100KL/H.
You have said before that 0-100KL/H times aren’t important, has that changed? Oh since the FG reviews have started pouring in…
2. That 7.1 for the XT is NOT from Ford you twit, read the reviews, drive.com, your favourite reference achieved those times :) 5.1 for turbo was with A/C on…
Even fuel figures achieved on test are impressive.
Curtin airbags are a bloody $300,00 option for gods sake! punters will most likely bargain that into a deal on FG.
Face it Ford did a GOOD job with FG, simple.

Many people had no faith Ford would make a class leading package with FG, you only have to look back at BA of 2002 and territory of 2004 to see how well Ford can tune and engineer a locally produced vehicle.
I love the fact that people like TP have to eat thier own words now…
Lets see Toyota develop a unique, RWD platform sold only here in Australia that accomplishes so much for very little money and volume…:)

The FG Falcon is awesome,(Especially The G-Series) but only model in the range I’m not impressed about is the XR8…

• Disappointing performance times. The VESS might still be faster than FGXR8.
• No twin exhaust pipes. C’mon FoA, give the XR8 some original V8 tradition as it is a V8 in case you’ve forgotten!
Although the XR8 isn’t that terrific, not all bad for Ford because their Turbo-6 is impressively quick and it doesn’t just come in the XR6 Turbo & F6 any more. I prefer the G6E Turbo over the XR6 Turbo and FPV F6 over both G6E Turbo and XR6 Turbo.

Interesting that you mention the NUMBER OF AIRBAGS as if it actually is the defining element of crashworthiness. Tha CamAurion NEEDS those airbags to achieve a good result, the superior Falcon structure does not.
Bottom line is that the Falcon, with 4 airbags, has a better crash rating than Camry/Aurion with 6 airbags.

^Bret, sure u dont need two exhaust pipes minimum like i said. But the exhaust pipe on the XR8 looks big because of the exhaust tip around it which makes it look big. I f u take that off its normal size. Which means ford should make the exhaust pipe larger or add an extra exhaust to the back of the car.
