2009 Cadillac XLR V-Series spy photos

By Alborz Fallah |

After a 12-year absence, Cadillac is destined for Australia later this year under the watchful eyes of GM Premium (currently managing Saab & Hummer), and we are holding our breaths in anticipation for several hot models. This morning our American based photographer caught the new 2009 Cadillac XLR V-Series as it made its way around town.

GM Premium currently only has plans to import the Cadillac CTS, however the XLR would make an interesting choice as well.

The facelifted XLR V-Series gets moderate changes to the front and rear. We can spot a wire-mesh grill with the big Cadillac badge through the camouflage. We also noticed the big fender vent covered up by the black tape – which is all new , although we’re guessing it’s a lot like the fender vent on the Provoq concept.

Our American photographer told us that “it was crazy fast and had a really raucous exhaust note…” so it may still continue with the current 4.4-litre, supercharged Northstar V8, good for 330kW.

There is the possibility that it will get the LSA motor found in the 2009 CTSv. The LSA is the 6.2-litre, supercharged, small block V8 pumping out a massive 410kW and 746Nm of torque.

Are you looking forward to Cadillac’s return to Australia?

Yuk – sorry not my cuppa tea

  • Jimbo

Ugly shape, American quality………………….I have a feeling it will be a dog, just like most other US cars.

  • Reckless1

Am I looking forward to Cadillac’s return to Australia?

No. It will fail here just as it has always failed in foreign markets.

But hey, people buy the crappy price inflated Chrysler stuff, so now they will have another model to choose.

  • Duck

^^^^^^^^^^U guys should wait and see. MOTOR Mag. (march) said “The CTS is a proper alternative to a 3 Series or C-Class” and also said “If the CTS doesnt succeed here, it’s not because of the car”. I have big hopes for Caddilac. Cadillac have improved and lifted its game than it will be better than chrysler did also. The good Caddy to see here would be the 410kw 6.2L LS9 V8, CTS-V, which features MRC suspension, massive brembo brakes, 19 inch wheels & performance traction control.

the chrysler stuff atleast looks ok, this thing is ugly as sin. duck there is no point a car having all those good bits if it looks like a dogs bum

  • Bavarian Missile

To quote a line out of Fawty Towells………”MY GOD YOUR UGLY”

  • Rob

    Looks like it’s on tip-toes

  • Myke

I’m looking forward to Cadillac… there new products though. The CTS will be very good car, it’s appearance is very much love or hate, just like the 300C. So if Cadillac have a big market, it will be a very specfic one.

Hmm it just doesnt look right to me.
It might go fine and all the other things.
But the all angles done look right.
Id take a CTS-V still though

Car looks fine to me, reminds me of the old Honda Prelude shape. You fellas just need a bit of imagination, picture the car with two inches cut off the springs and a nicer set of rims then your gettin somewhere ;-)

P.S. I’d have to agree with DUCK, all the reviews of late have praised Cadillac’s recent efforts. If Jeremy Clarkson can manage to give the CTS a thumbs up then something good must be goin on there at the moment.

  • pg no re

i agree, the whole platic tarp thing on de front and rear jus doesn suit a car of dat much price

    What u mean around town?

U making it sound as if they are in Oz.Those photos are of in USA……Where Caddy should stay.

A good brand in the past, of no use here.

Who is going to buy a Benz/BMW/Lexus priced GM product?

    Another orphan in the making.

We got 2 GM luxos already, Caprice and SAAB’s

    Cheers

You obviously haven’t seen Cadillac’s most recent offerings then, because a Caprice or Saab is rubbish in comparison to the new CTS for example. It goes fast in a straight line, handles well, and has a well built and great looking interior that puts a C Class or 3 series to shame.

I hope the new XLR is more of a sporty car to drive than the last one, which was just a boulevarde cruiser like the Lexus SC430.

Those exhausts look similar to the z06!!! very hot.

I wonder if the back end will be similar too… mmm 4 dishpan sized taillights :D

  • Phill

It looks like it was styled back in the 80s

  • Bear

You Cant polish a turd now can you

  • marc j j

does any body drive these cars or does your review come out your ass,I own a cts and can tell you it is a great car ,different from my previous vehicle 330ci. i chose the cts because it is a better value.$20,000 less than the similarly equiped bmw,has more cabin space and more of a luxury ride.the leather steering wheel is standard not an option as in a bmw. test drove a $45000 330c1 that had vinyl seats and a vinyl steering wheel,is it me or does that make you sick? CADILLAC CTS IS IN ITS OWN CLASS!!!
Other cars should be compared to it,the ride is pure class!! my z4 which handles like a champ is my favorite “fun” car.the CTS is what it is,a great car.

  • rob

hey but if that so called ugly car was being produced by the shitty BMW u would blow them till the wheels fall off correct

  • Cadillac man

I own a mint condition 1976 aztec-red Cadillac El Dorado convertible. The so-called makers of Cadillac should be hanged from barbed wire and slowly strangled for bastardizing such an iconic car and turning it into a typical nondescript, scrap metal, jelly bean shape clone faggot car. 99% of cars on the road today are designed and created by European faggots for faggots, and not for real men. My very feminine wife, who owns a mint condition 1968 Ford Mustang, loves driving the El Dorado and wouldn’t drive anything that’s on the road today. The 1976 El Dorado has real style, character and personality, which has been sacrificed to churn out ugly shit cans. The kids love riding in the El Dorado, too. For the faggots, my wife and I have three healthy children, not because I have an 18 foot land yacht as compensation, but because I’m a real man. Always have been, and always will be. By the way, I’ve got my eye on a mint condition 1969 Dodge Charger.
