2008 Lexus LX 570 SUV
April 8, 2008 by George Skentzos
Lexus has launched its luxury SUV based on the new Toyota Landcruiser 200 series – the all-new LX 570.
Available from April 10, the LX 570 features more technological advances, safety inclusions and power than ever before and will be offered in two grades – Prestige and Sports Luxury.
Both models are equipped with a 5.7-litre V8 engine producing 270kW and 530Nm – making it the most powerful Lexus SUV ever.
Acceleration to 100km/h takes just 7.8 seconds from a standing start – down from 12 seconds on the previous model, with a fuel consumption figure of 14.8 litres/100km.
This is mated to Lexus’ new six-speed sequential-shift automatic transmission, designed and built for heavy-duty off-road driving with an integrated Crawl Control feature.
A four-wheel hydro-pneumatic suspension package with Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) and Active Height Control (AHC) delivers substantial reduction in body roll and an increase in ride comfort.
The LX 570 also features Multi-terrain ABS braking system designed to help reduce stopping distances on slippery surfaces.
Standard passenger safety includes 10 airbags, comprising driver and front-passenger knee airbags, second-row seat-mounted side airbags and full side curtain-shield airbags that extend across all three rows.
Standard luxury equipement includes Park Assist, smart entry and start smart, active cruise control, front and side safety monitors, four-zone, 28-outlet climate control system, a power-sliding second-row seat and a 19-speaker Mark Levinson premium audio system.
LX 570 will come to market in Prestige and Sports Luxury grades, with a recommended retail price of $136,700 for Prestige and $151,700 for Sports Luxury.

Built to maim and kill.
Wow an over-priced over-equiped Landcruiser with ugly bumps for wealthy knobs – pass.
Will sell by the truckload to rich fools, most of whome will have a Prius in the garage as well to make them feel better for having 5.7 L petrol guzzling V8 dino.
Why isn’t this a Hybrid if the toyota green credentials are sooo good.
A truly ridiculous vehicle.
Why would you, when you can get the Toyota version for a lot less money, and have the same thing.
If you opened a service station for buyers of this car, you could charge $2.00 per litre of fuel and they’d come and buy it. Just put a leather handle on the fuel nozzle.
good to know the occupants are well protected and to hell with other road users.
thats what they think
lovely inside.,… how ugly is the exterior…. gawd!!!
stupid land yachts…. i buy a small economy car to get around town, these masses park beside me and its $#*&#ing hard to see past the heaps of crap to get out of the car park!
stupid soccer mums!
Vile.
It looks 10 years old already.
That is a very nice 4×4 and a very nice donk to go with it.
There are many differances between the new 200 series Cruiser and LX570 including greater quality control, suspension revisions, equipment levels, technology and drivetrain to name a few.
And for those ctritics about it’s size, i suppose we should purge our roads of all F-series picks and GMC’s while we are at it.
And this is a relatively efficent high tech 5.7 v8 not a 6.2l push rod HSV.
Jelousy is a curse.
I hate it, just like all Toyoda’s……….
This one big fridge !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Expensive Fridge…………..
Lexus don’t suck, they are great cars and getting better all the time. The LX570 is another feather in thier cap of recently released models and all of which have been impressive.
In recent times we have witnessed the release of the 255KW/460nm 8-speed GS460, 2007 World Car Of The Year winning LS460 and it’s 280kw/493nm 8-speed drivetrain while the 327kw/650nm AWD, self parking LS600hl has certainly made it’s presance be known.
Now Lexus has launched the new 5.7 v8 LX570 and later this year Lexus Australia will be importing the new IS-F performance machine which is powered by a 311kw/500nm 5.0 v8 mated to a 8-speed paddle shift tranny and what a car that will be.
Lexus has finally matured as one of the greatest players in the luxury market and any decent enthusiast of motor vehicles would have full respect and appreciation towards Lexus wether they would buy one or not.
It’s amazing that they can make their really good looking compact sedans, then pump out ugly crap like this.
Buy A Lexus is a Paid Toyota internet billboard scammer. If you want to advertise do so, but to pretend it is a genuine individual opinion is just contemptious.
No wonder your company is held in contempt by so many people worldwide
I think you would have to have rocks in your head to buy this car unless you intended to take it offroad or did a fair bit of towing.
If all you want is something to take the kids to school in and show off to your friends, a Range Rover Sport or Porsche Cayenne would be a better bet.
The looks of this thing alone would make me steer well clear of it. Looks pig ugly and dated.
Bret … forget it, you are weak.
I like Toyota’s because they make damn good cars yet clowns like yourself hate them with a passion because they have demorilized and killed the aspirations of you blind Holden and Ford supporters who then try bag Toyota with often absolute bullsh8t garbage.
You pricks are poor losers with dreadful sportsmanship as proven when Nissan kicked a*se on the Mountain just to have weak clowns like yourself cry like a bunch of skirts.
Get over it … TMC make good cars and are coming on strong with a range of impressive vehicles that Toyota, TRD and Lexus have been hitting the market with recently.
Give credit were credit is due even if if kills you typical Holden/Ford wackers.
GETALIFEDINGOTOYODAISOVERRATED!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It’s sooooooo ugly, TATA Mihindra looks fantastic compared to this trash……..
For those that think its overpriced, take a look at its main competitors…
Range Rover… 148K to 190K (not the Sport, but the full size model)
Mercedes GL500… 150K
In this context their pricing is competitive. Fit, finish, off road ability, equipment and reliablity is probably equal to or better than the Rangie or GL500. And neither of these is lkely to win a beauty contest either.
Toyota Paul is using different names tonight.
It’s not overpriced, it’s not poor quality and it’s bound to be capable off-road. Why does it look 5 years less modern than a Range Rover, itself nearing middle age?
Bret,
In the states, there is a hybrid version… Oz is still under “studies” and negotiations from government to manufacturer.. in terms of Hybrids… like I mean, every model will have a hybrid counterpart… in the States, Toyota has a about 3-4 hybrids from 3 different models… not including the Prius.
I reckon it looks good while the interior is certainly luxury plus. For those who are finicially strong and want a luxury 4×4 this would undoubtedly be the best choice and probably the most capable offroad vehicle at the same time. Engine is sweet as and you certainly can not refute those figures. The release of the LX570 and TRD Hilux at the same time will only strengthen Toyota’s standing in the market.
Doesnt look bad, but some of the styling on the outside look to similar to the 200series Landcruiser. The front from a distance look to much like a Landcruiser (the lights) and they should change the rear tail lights, they look very similar to the Landcruiser or exactly the same. Because last gen model had slight differences with the look between the landcruiser and the LX. Because u want to make a toyota a toyota and a lexus a lexus. Though i heard that it will be as good as the 200series landcruiser off road (because it virtually the same vehicle underneath). Because the LX470 i heard wasnt good off road as the landcruiser 100series. Oh………..and one other nice thing is the interior looks different to the Landcruiser, it looks more luxurious………thats good!
Im just saying u want to make an every day mans Toyota not to be a lexus, but different.
Hey that 5.7L V8 in the Lexus LX570, produces the same amount of kW and Nm as in the Holden commodore SS and SS V, but the SS And SS V have are 6.0L engine, fancy that!
Dingo Going hard at a toyota,
You are a total loser – you just don’t get it. Your over opinionated, biased toyota corporate bulldust generates most of the anti toyota stuff. I don’t dislike toyotas at all. In fact I have owned more toyotas that any other brand. You are uncapable of participating in any forum without degrading it to your pitiful level.
And this car IS rediculous, just as most upper luxury 4WD’s (now there’s an oxymoron) are. The only purpose that this serves is pose value. What a WAFTAM.
BTW why is this considered an “SUV” when the near identical Landcruiser is called a “4WD”. Does an inflated price tag and a luxuy pack and badge change what the vehicle is now?
^^^^^^Id say so Bret!
Never seen a Lexus in the bush or any part of remote Australia in my travels.
I reckon Landcruiser/Lexus LX is no longer the ultimate 4WD. The Prado is a much better compromise for On/Off Road usability, size, fuel efficiency.
Each new model may drive better, but they just make me want the previous models even more!
I reckon many Landcruisers are sold on the legends of the past!!
Lancruisers are sold on the legends of today and the past. An alround bullet proof offroader.
WORLDS GREATEST 4X4 FOR SURE !!
The biggest omission from the Lexus Range is the V8 diesel from the landcruiser. With 650Nm @1600 rpm and a claimed 10.3l/100 km it would seem to be a superior choice of engine.
The new 4.5 Twin turbo 4.5 v8 Diesel is damn impressive but also more expensive.
Yes but if they can fit it in an $80K LC200 then i’m sure they can fit it in a 130-150K car without too much of a price premium.
According to Go Auto … more then 100 LX570’s have already been pre-sold.
Some may rememeber the special edition of the IS250 last year called the IS250x with 260 offered. As reported, those cars were supposedly sold in 6 weeks only so this year the limited edition has been increased to 450 units.
Also worth mentioning and that Australia’s quoter for the new LS600hl have been most sold also.
Not bad going for Lexus at all.
i was fortunate enough to drive one of these at the launch and they are nothing short of amazing for a luxury off road vehicle. An LS460 for off road. I also drove the 200 series cruiser, and its a very differently appointed car for gadgets, fit and finish and quality of materials, but essentially performs the same functions. After a full day of bush bashing, i couldn’t get it to rattle, squeak or clunk.
This is the pinnacle of offroad luxury, and will truly go just about anywhere. However, due to it being one of the most expensive off road vehicles that looks similar to a toyota, they get roasted by the average punter.
You can pass judgement after you’ve driven one.
wow that is one ugly car.
Correct, I would not even bother with a test drive, it’s way too ugly just like most of Toyoda’s expensive fridge’s……. I hate Toyoda, overrated smelly trash……… eeeeeeeeewwwwwwww yukkk…….
Gee cobra, thats soooo original. Perhaps if it had a big bogan set of blue stripes down the middle of its roof and some fluffy dice just for you. I suppose ford have a credible alternative to this vehicle somewhere? anywhere? No? Didn’t think so. I guess there still to busy turning pickups into wagons. (Expedition / Excursion).
Yeah I agree with Dlr1, ACCOBRA just because it’s not a ford and doesnt have big long stripes on the top doesn’t mean it aint crap! For example for someone to choose a new XR8 over this is a TOTAL LOSER!
^ha! my anti-spam word berfore was XR8!
Good car. Try it.
