Anthony.

Nice bit of road. I know exactly where you drove it. I have been travelling that road for at least 15 years (half my life). There is a lot of that road that really tests whether a car has the suspension tunned properly, ie off camber and ruts/bumps mid corner. Mid week is excellent, but just watch the cyclists on Saturday morning. The best car I have driven on that road so far is the original MX5. Great when you know the road like the back of your hand.

GT1 don't u remeber the the vt series 2 gts with 300kw with 510nm it was quicker than a bf fpv gt or fg xr8. The ba fpv gt was a disgarce it had a 5 speed manual as a option and it is slower than a ve ss and the fg xr8 is even slower and it has the same engine with a better gearbox. Just wait to series 2 the capped 550nm (driveline restrictions) will change to 580nm (as they change the gearbox) just like a stock ls3 and soon there will be a direct injected version as heared in the new camaro with 337kw and probably close to 600nm because gm want di to be satndard on all gm cars. Your saying the ve ss is crap when it's much quicker than a fg xr8 which has worse steering because of the heavy engine at the front, i wonder what the weight ratio is 50-40 LOL, was there any reviews saying the ve had bad handling why talk shit for, why shold we believe you when the reviews speak for themselves and say the handling is great?. Remeber the ba it had brake shuddering problems and it was never recalled that was a common problem in many reviews and by buyers, infact it's dangerous as the car can sway left to right in heavy braking. The ve has a bigger interior (head room and cabin watch drive videos) as stated by drive comparing to the fg and one of the criticisms to the xr sport seats were that they don't hug around the driver. wheelnut do you expect the alloytec twin turbo to be in series 2 or vf as it has been 4 years since the torana concept? also it would have DI? Do expect the allotec DI to come in? 210 standard and 230 highoutput. 5l50 standard gear box 6 speed for the rest, and maybe xenon headlamps standand execpt omega, because the standard g8 has xenon and so does the chev omega thats exported to brazil, which is basically a berlina with 6.5 inch colour screen. I was thinking that the 5.5 inch screen from the berlina might go to the omega and 6.5 for the rest or possibly a 7 to 7.5 inch in the high spec models calais ss-v, and the hsv triple dials will go to the ss-v instead of the the crapy colour screen, dials of the voltage and oil pressure which has beeen critisced and pontiac stated that they will change it.

The TRD Hilux is aimed at the Tradesman who will utilse the vehicle for professional duties during the week yet is a solid towing or 4x4 capable vehicle for leasure on weekends. The HSV and FPV examples have good road manners but are limited otherwise. Not much use hauling or towing heavy loads and versatility virtually limited to the tarmac. TRD Hilux is a much more attractive option for me.

There really is no difference between the HSV Maloo the TRD Hilux or the FPV Pursuit - as these modified / enhanced / upgraded vehicles are intended to be show ponies not workhorses..
I mean I doubt youd ever find anything like a cememnt mixer; bags of cement; bricks; or dirt in the back of a maloo

Apparently there are rumours/reports that Holden are toying with the idea of making the overall size of the commodore smaller/more compact
Which is why there are those who think that when the Pontiac G6 [based on the TT-36 concept car] is released sometime in 2010-12.. the Aussie version won't be called the Torana [as many expect] but the Commodore instead.

The old 3.2 Litre V6 that was in the Vectra was part of the Ecotec family of Holden engines similar to what was in the VR-VS Commodores..
Since then Holden have moved on the the Alloytec series of engines - in the VE..
By the time the "New Compact" arives Holden probably would have switched over to a lighter smaller more fuel efficient more powerful direct injection V6 engine

Wheelnut - when you say compact are you referring to the car size or engine. If the Commie is overall becoming smaller then surely this mismatches with the likely insignia on the horizon. Also what happened to the 3.2litre unit that was slotted temporarily into the Vectra/Saab that was made in Australia?

I didn't say that the TT-V6 from the Torana Concept Car would be fitted into a Commodore.

Yet Holden are working on a more compact car similar to the TT-36 Concept Car which will become the new Pontiac G6 in 2010-12.. and most likely the new Torana or Vectra.
or even the Commodore as there are reports that over the next couple of years the commodore could become more compact.

Now the TT-V6 in the Torana concept car produced 280Kw yet given the advancements in engine development etc since then and GMs focus on direct injection its quite possible that when the "compact Holden" arrives the new DI-TT-V6 could produce 300+Kw

So who knows a Turbo6 Falcon or V8 Commodore could infact be beaten by a smaller sized lighter turbocharged car

Then theres the Deal where BMW will provide GM-H with engines and Ms philosophy is 100Kw per Litre

New FG FPV F6 is faster than HSVs ATM However; with the next upgrade due by the end of the year HSV is expected to increase its power to 330Kw where as Holden is looking at closer to 280Kw..

Then theres the supercharges LS-9 [will drop straight into the VEII] which produces 620Bhp [= to a V8 Supercar]

And in a couple of years Holden will also have the Twin Turbo V6 [similar to what was in the TT-36 Torana Concept Car which will make 300+Kw

Nothing special, ass end is ugly as sin, and as per usual, the only way holden can make a car go around a corner is give it more grip.

The 6.2L is coming, and i bet just like all the other upgrades, it does nothing for the actuall car. I dont think i have seen HSV's times improve since they went from 260 to 285kw.

I test drove a manual VESS last week and was left wanting. Great in a straight line, and that was the only highlight. Handling was average, and the seats were 1 and a half the size of me and im not that small. Plastics used for the console are cheap and very chizzled.

These cars are in for a rough time once the F6 is released, a much better put together machine, I cant see the HSV's having much chance considering the XR6 turbo is already faster than them.

My 2 cents.

Duck: There isn't a Limited Edition Maloo, When HSV make a Limited Edition; usually to celebrate an anniversary or a win etc. its only available in one unique colour and a slightly different bodykit.. whereas ATM the Maloo is available in every colour and every Maloo has the same taillights.

Yet I think the Bodykit on the HRT Maloo would look a lot better
