Hyundai/Kia global sales volume in 2007 would’ve been about 4 million/yr I think. For this year: 700,000 per qusarter means 2.8 mln/yr, and that’s for Hyudai alone, not incl Kia Motors. Add another 1.2 mil for Kia and you get about 4 mil/yr.

That ranks them 6th in the world, after GM, Ford, Toyota, Renault/Nissan, VW. Slightly ahead of Honda, considerably outpacing Peugeot and Fiat.

Hyundai should thanks our crook Alan Bond, and Hyundai should thanks Western Australia (instead of building HQ in NSW) to give the Hyundai their first entry to Australia. Why can’t we Aussies do the same? Build a car that people wants???????

I know why but Hyundai should not be in 8th position in Australia for total car sales.They are a better car company then that and deserve to be somwhere in the top 4.I have two Hyundai’s in my garage a Tucson Elite and a Getz I cannot see me ever looking at another car maker,both cars are a pleasure to drive espically the V6 Tucson.In total have owned 3 Hyundai’s with no trouble from any of them and Hyundai customer service is the best.Well done Hyundai.Hope to see a new looking Tucson soon it is starting to age.

hey,, go hyundai., Some people above were saying about the quality of toyota. Maybe interms of drivetrain yes, lol but
the quality of the interior is getting worse model after model. Like the Kluger LOLLL… that has a horrible interior when you go for like the base models. Everything looks like its going to break, its made so thin :|

Yeah Hyundai must be doing something right… i just requested a brochure from a hyundai dealer regarding the i30. If you had told me that i would be doing this even a year ago i never would have believed it! They are on the up, theres no doubt

I thought NM said that Hyundai/Kia were selling up to 6.7 million cars a year or something thereabouts?

These results arent really consistent with that.

Though congrats to hyundai, they are the quiet achievers of the car industry.

Hyundai deserves this success, because they are building cars that alot of people want…the i30 diesel for example is exactly what we need with petrol prices at $1.50 smart people are turning to LPG and in this case diesel economy!!

Good luck to them and if their build quality continues to improve and they continue to provide altenatives that the major car makers don’t offer “in Australia” then they will continue beimg successful!!!!!

One tip would be to bring the wagon version of the i30 as soon as possible (in my view they’ve waited too long already)and if they can’t get their hands on big numbers then just bring the diesel version only to start off with….that will be Hyundai’s next big hit i guarantee it!!

The Ceed is a Kia… it is made only in Europe and therefore would have a $1500 premium over the i30. Underneath they are basically the same car and Kia believes there would be no reason to pay the extra $$ for the same/similar car. Until they can overcome that problem, the Ceed won’t be sold here.

Congrats Hyundai. Great product line up for Australia. When are you going to bring us the C’eed – drove one overseas – nearly as good as a Golf… Its amazing when a company actually reaserches and listens to the consumer – they make cars that people want. Maybe Ford should look at their example…
