Special Edition Toyota Aurion Touring
April 1, 2008 by George Skentzos
Not to be outdone, Toyota has launched a special edition version of its V6 Aurion.
Available for a limited time, the Special Edition Aurion Touring offers over $2,500 worth of added equipment above the equipment levels of the entry-level Aurion AT-X at no extra cost.
In addition to 16-inch alloy wheels which alone usually retail for $1,150 – the Aurion Touring also gains the following:
- six-disc CD changer
- front foglamps
- dual-zone climate-control
- leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear lever
- front and rear parking sonars
- trip computer
The Special Edition Aurion Touring is priced at $34,990 and features Toyota’s 3.5-litre Quad-Cam V6 engine developing 200kW of power at 6200rpm and 336Nm at 4700rpm on regular unleaded petrol.

$1,150 for 16″ alloy wheels normally? Crikey, that’s a bit much. Maybe for 17″ or 18″ that both looked good and filled the guards!!!!
Interesting. No wait, the other one: tedious.
hmmm that means that foglights and that crap costed only 10500 dollars combined yet they charge 100 dolalrs for foggies and cd player
My Wife and Family are under instructions to pull my life support if I ever think of buying a camry
Spot on Bob, way over priced for 16inch rims…..maybe the width is increased? Dare say it would not be too overt sporty as Toyota dont really stand for that!
Too me I kinda growing tired of the look…..why is this so? Well the front is similar to Corolla sedans, hatch and the grille looks too bland (like some of Falcon models – RTV with ladder effect). The lights lack sharpness and style as too boring and unaggressive….in the right colour looks good must admit as seen Gold Sportivo and loved it!
Gotta say it looks pretty tame compared to the limited edition Commodore Omega, you could never tell it was a limited edition.
I agree with one of your points.
The front grille reminded me of the corolla. Not a bad thing but doesnt suit a large car like the aurion.
Maybe they could add a slight black surround the headlights to give it a bit more look. Like Holden did with the VX SS. Maybe for the next model.
Toyleta’s are boring as bat Shit…………
ATOMIC SSV….agree about makeup of inside reflectors in lights (similar to how black out versions of second last model Holden Astra was as they looked wicked). Its truly more so the shape of them, heck it just looks rectangular and bland. Ditto the grille – and logo how hanging drooped over top of grille looks weird. It does carry over too many cues from Corolla and bottom air intakes where driving lights are are like Astra (everyone is doing it looking similar). I reckon it would need a new bonnet and new headlights with new grille much more sophisticated even the TRD as that looks tacky (like as tacky as WRX mesh grille). Maybe something like on VE or 3 bar plastic with honeycombe to all of rear).
Ford beats Toyota in US quality rankings: 2007…
People might have to stop making all those jokes about the quality of Ford’s cars..
Ford is Now “Fixing Reputation Daily.”
Ford Motor Co. supplanted Toyota as leader of the pack in J.D. Power and Associates’ annual initial quality rankings released in 2007, grabbing more individual awards than any other automaker for the first time since 1998, when it tied for the top spot.
Ford ranked highest in five of 19 segments in 2007 survey. That’s two better than in 1998 — the last time a U.S. automaker was on top — when Ford tied with Toyota and Honda.
The Dearborn automaker earned segment awards for the Ford Mustang, Lincoln Mark LT, Lincoln MKZ, Mercury Milan and Mazda MX-5 Miata. Mazda is 33.4 percent owned by Ford.
Porsche again dominated the overall ranking of brands, averaging 91 problems per 100 vehicles, as it had in 2006. That compared with a 2007 industry average of 125 problems per 100 vehicles. 2006 it was 124.
Toyota Motor Corp., which grabbed the top spot in 11 segments in 2006, captured only four this year — the 4Runner, Sequoia, Tacoma and Lexus RX350/RX400h.
Toyota’s Lexus luxury brand, which averaged 94 problems per 100 vehicles.
Toyota had seen its list of quality leaders decrease in a quality study released by Strategic Vision Inc., a San Diego-based market research company and consultant to automakers. Despite improving its overall quality, Toyota led in one category in that study — down from four in 2006. South Korean automaker Hyundai Motor Co. led five categories, outperforming its Japanese, European and U.S. competitors. Last year, it had no winner
There’s no clear answer for Toyota’s drop. But several vehicles brought its quality performance down for 2007 and also this year, including the Corolla, Prius and Lexus models.
TOYMOTA MEANS NO SPICE FOR LIFE CARDIGAN WEARING GIRLS LIKE DINGO & TP……
WATCH THIS SPACE DINGO & TP, FORD IS MUCH BETTER, SALES ARE NOTHING LOSER, TOYMOTA WILL SUFFER DOWN THE TRACK..
FORD’S NEW FALCON WILL BE WELL APPOINTED, SUPERBLY PRICED, A QUALITY MASTERPIECE AND WORTH EVERY CENT………
Is that an Aurion or a Holden? front looks the same as a VE COmmode………….

Ford beats Toyota in US quality rankings: 2007…
Thats cool but Ford and Toyota for AU are both produced locally meaning the numbers in the US mean sfa here.
Lunch box !
Just reminding toyota lovers before they talk Aurions up………..they think sales make toymota superior to anything else on the market……..but majority are fleet sales not private….
pleasse dont tell me your talking about the ford of norht america who created the flex
The front of Aurions look mismatched to the rest of the car.Go to the picture at the top of the page and put your hand over the front half of the car.SEE HOW BORING THIS CAR REALIY IS
Makes the the new Falcon looks like an overpriced hack! FOrd must charge $2k extra for hub caps, because I cant see anything the Falcon has the Aurion doesnt, if anything less, yet it costs more!
Yaba yaba yaba TP.It still looks BORING
How is the omega commodore anymore exciting? They both look like large family sedans. Which they both are.
TP,
I’ve driven through potholes deeper than you. Shallow.
You discredit yourself more with each post you make.
Toyota can’t sell these things so their discounting their butts off. Toyota Aus boss said “Aurion sales have not been where we had hoped (that they would be)”, and the hoes wern’t even that high.
How come a Toyota story gets so many responses in such a short time? I didn’t know there were that many terminally boring people in Australia.
Ready for the big TuRD sign across the top of the windscreen eh TP?
Gee whiz TP Toyota certainly have come out all guns blazing with this Hot item!
Wonder how the quarter times will be affected by the extra skinny tyres?
lol @ all the people (who keep coming up) with these ‘omg I hate Aurion comments’ ..
what is it that you want? *points at all of em and asks seriously wtf? don’t like it , don’t buy it – why does there always have to be whinge whinge whinge *insert I hate Toyota whinge whinge?
worse than an emo kid with blazing music annoying passengers on the bus..
same goes for toyota fans too, whinge whinge about other brands lol..
you all need to be locked up in a room for a good day or so! hah.
unless you’re all saying you have nothing else better in your life to do than to virtual keyboard warrior each other on, well topics that no one really cares about ..
The people who want to buy an Aurion will buy an Aurion, the people who want Holdens = will buy Holdens and no suprise people who want Fords = well you get the gig.
seriously grow up people… get the hell over it !! :D
Kasparov corret, but it wont sink in, its family car and worse still its BASE MODEL… people buy these not because it looks sporty but because it doesnt have a 4 speed tranny, it doesnt have a 180kw engine, it isnt the worst hanlder in the segment or it doesnt have among the worst reliability. In all these category Toyota excels over the competition
Captain we get this many respones because of tall poppy syndrome. People are jealous of Toyota. A clear eg, without any mention people start mentioning reliability. It eats away at them to know their “local” brands are POS’ compared to the wider market.
Admittedly good value for money. But do they have them here in Euroland…No cos they wouldn’t sell as they are somewhat dull
Oh now I get it. This is an April fools joke……. or is the V6 CamAurion just a joke?
Well looks like COBRA has struck well with his comment, I cannot argue with such reliable information. Well done COBRA…..Ha Ha, who would if thought that was possible. I cotton picking dog gone it yeh har oooh yeah didnt see that true snippet coming…..!
Maybe the wheel is turning like it always has happened with every car maker! Its easier to scale the mountain and its nigh impossible to stay ahead of everyone nipping at your heels!
COBRA states – “Just reminding toyota lovers before they talk Aurions up……they think sales make toymota superior to anything else on the market……..but majority are fleet sales not private”
NM response – Yes come to think of it that does ring fairly true! I will keep an eye out in Cairns as going there next week! Come to think of it, not many young people drive them as all older which I have seen. At least it has a big boot or loading area to load the tweed suits in and cashmere elegant jumpers! COBRA, you just keep hitting the dart board in the middle mate and calling it for what it truly is!
TP, I’ve never commented about you before, but you need to wake yourself up and realise that there are other very reliable cars out there which are not boring. Where shall I start? Mazda…..Honda…..OK, that’s it, everything else is either less reliable than Toyota or just as boring, if not both at the same time. Also, there are lots of buyers who will take a gamble on reliability in order to buy something with a bit of character or enthusiast appeal. Let these people express their individuality, we don’t all want fridges on wheels. Now go back to sleep.
keep on the topic of the anticle (some of you)!! O. in your comment earlier you talked about option cost, all car companies evaluate what they can charge for each option rrp and some they charge way to much for but others they have believe it or not are a loss. All base car are dull no matter what you look at, they are budjet point a to point b cars. you can not say that a commodore omega is not dull. bret as for saying they are discounting their butts off to boost sales, well are you a genious all car companies do this, look at falcon and commdore and tell me that they have never added extras to attract buyers.
Indeed Captain the Honda accord is europes most reliable car..Official Toyota came 5th with the Yaris
how about all of you stop trying to ‘enforce’ your own views onto each other eh?
because while you all debate it out here with all this nonsense, the market is not going to be affected nor are any of you in that position to influence it.
so quit being such panzies, get a grip of your tampons and grab a cold drink.
Arguing it out here, will not change the facts or the figures – private, fleet (wasn’t fleet sales all that Holden was about? with cops and government until they realized they could get something else too..) –
I still see that you haven’t learnt NM – you really do not have that physical mushy organic substance in your head working properly mate.. and same goes for all the fanbois grouping up and thinking they’ve attained something on this virtual forum.
wish I could pass on a bit ‘get a life’ in a can right about now ..
Rock on :D
LOL. I’m enjoying all these posts Chaser, some people have to lighten up, all this talk makes for a good laugh……… :-)
Cobra… I wouldn’t go on about so many Toyotas being sold to fleets, don’t ford sell just as many to fleets? Or do they sell less to fleets because their resale values are so low? eg at auction a 2 y.o XT sedan with 50ks is returning about 40% of its RRP. A similar Aurion about 55 to 60%. Corolla about 75%. Have a think before dribbling on about fleet sales.
to chaser are you going to comment on the cars or try to ‘enforce’ your views on how and what people can talk about in a free country?
I am freely going to say that it wouldn’t hurt to come on an ‘automotive forum’ and not have to deal with the usual rants and rambles.
However if you feel that this is pretty much what we’re all here for , then by all means go for the ‘free country’ excuse.
:D
OK Euro lover, for a start most small cars including your corolla get around what say around 70-75% even our Ford Focus will return this figure, no argument there, I think your 40% for 50,000ks XT is way of pal, I have seen many XT’s returing 50% + resale,,, 55%-60% for Aurions turn it up, where do you get your figures from a weet bix box or home brand corn flakes………
Mark,
Mate I was merely reflecting on the situation as it stands at the moment, Falcon has been in runout, Commodore has been doing Specials, Aurion has been struggling badly with sales, despite discounts and MASSIVE advertising (as per a recent statement by Toyota chief). Hence the FACT that toyota are “discounting their butts off”
To highlight this just look at the lack of real discounting for the corolla at the moment – it’s doin OK for sales, no massive discounts.
So many exciting models to choose from in Oz that I think the only way is down for Toyota with their mediocre offerings.
The rot has set in and I don’t even think putting 200 killer wasps in every vehicle will save them although a 200 killer wasp Corolla would be interesting.
Looks like the “legendary” quality is fast slipping although I think this was more a product of hype than anything else.
P.S TP when your testicles finally drop your voice will deepen. Ha ha ha ha ha
TP must be fast asleep in his Camry Car Bed by now. Probably dreaming of burnouts in his Dad’s Widebody…..
Deepen, hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha thoughts maybe, but not his voice…..
Naahh probably got the Toyota Aurion under the covers tommy tugging over those skinny alloys.
Cobra, my figures come from first hand knowledge, I deal with these numbers every day. It’s what i get paid to do. BF XT resales at auction are tanking. A comparable Aurion AT-X brings 5K more at auction in NSW today. Even a 4 cylinder Camry sells for more at auction. I have no bias one way or the other. I could easily say that at current values the BF is a better buy. As for corolla/focus, Corolla values are slightly stronger at the moment, but not much in it.
Ummm, isn’t this old news? The Aurion Touring was out last year last I checked?
I’m not getting involved in TP’s dribble. Is this a re-post, or that article in “RELATED POSTS” for another special edtion Aurion Touring just like this?
sorry but first impressions say ‘bland’ – maybe toyo just targeting the mum and dad market now…
Captain Mainwaring speaks!
Golfie mate. best you turn in before you fall to ZZZZZZZZZZZ on the keyboard. Ha Ha
TP,
Get a grip, and get your figures right.
Falcon has 190Kw and in Excess of 380Nm of torque (more than the Aurions V6)…You’re really going to try and tell us all that the Aurion having 200Kw…a measly 10Kw more than the Falcon makes it a clear winner?? Seriously, get real.
Cars in the Big Family car segment need more Torque, not just a high KW count…but then again, thats probably all you would know as I’m guessing you get all of your rebuttals off Toyota commercials..ZOMG..200 KEELER WAZPS!!!
Touring model has been around since before Christmas, therefore its not really new.
