    *****PRIMO!*****

    Cheers

    F/0

    PS Comm. Ute……BENCH-SEAT-PLEASE!

  2. golfschwein says:

Morpheous is dead. LONG LIVE MORPHEOUS!

Omega doesn’t look remotely shabby with these options. As for the SSV, I’ve done such a sterling job minimising my fuel use these last couple of years, I could well turn the table and reward myself with one of these…but I won’t. Not yet.

Where are Viva, Barina and Astra specials? In the Can’t Be Bothered Pile? A good place for them, Astra excepted.

  3. Matt says:

Holden still trying to take away Fords Thunder, mmm is this a sign that Holden is scared…

  4. Chris says:

Im a nutter ford fan but i don’t think Holden are scared or trying to steal anything, it’s marketing, two companys GM and Ford going toe to toe with sales and the real winner here is the customer, I just hope Ford match or better the deal otherwise i might just scoop up a sale with Holden.

  5. golfschwein says:

An interesting conclusion, Matt. Would the endless array of specials based on the Falcon XT be classified the same, do you think?

  6. Bret says:

Wow $8000 worth of extras, WTF?? $2000 cost, at best, plus a bloody expensive badge.

And yes promotions like this, timed like these are always attempts to steal the thunder of a competitor. It must be the season, the “deals” being done by Toyota and the mass flooding of advertising.

    Oh oh there’s that T word……..

Golf, one word, Runout! Best way to clear component stocks is to package them as “specials”.

  7. golfschwein says:

Cool. Stealing thunder from a competitor is healthy.

  8. COBRA says:

Ford has nothing to worry about, better marketing will catapult them upwards, just need some patience it will all fall into place,

“Holden won’t steal my thunder no matter how good the deals are”……………..

  9. o says:

those deals are great holden would be freaking out

  10. Holden should focus more on improving fuel efficiency instead…BTW I like those “TOYOTA ALIKE” door handles ;-)

  11. golfschwein says:

Chris, come back! We need someone with the power of reasoning!

  12. o says:

i really like that screeen in the craptiva [not misoelled] it makes the interior less crap

  13. Atomic SSV says:

I’m thinking those features in the Captiva will find themselves in the other models soon.
Since the Captiva has different headlights and tailights in other markets, are these the ones?
I think the Captiva might have a model freshen up with most of them features std.

I just want to see a reversing camera in the commodores :D

And why has most of the special edition commys used the Berlina grill, it is a nice one but now is looking to get overused.

    Just my opinion.

  14. Frosty says:

G’day atomicssv, the taillights on the Captiva are just clear lenses, the overall design is still the same like the circle in the middle comprising 50% reverse light 50% indicators unlike those in the Maxx which are totally different. Re. the other comments, I agree the 7 inch screen, reverse camera etc will find its way onto the mainstream Captiva with the new model refresh as Holden have been planning it for a while.

  15. Atomic SSV says:

    Oh that makes sense now.
That pretty much means what they have done with the SS-V lights compared to the lights the SS,SV6 and Omega have, this time its on the Captiva though.

  16. Rick Harris says:

Daewoo Captiva………i had the unfortunate experience of driving one last weekend. Well …how the f— could Holden put their badge on those? It was one of the worse cars i have driven. The low quality feel of the interior and the third rate on road dynamics made me appreciate how good the Ford Territory is. I had that uncomfortable feeling that i was going to tip over if I went around corners at anything other than snails pace…………

  17. o says:

so in the omega is the whole seat leather or just the bolsters?

  18. Frosty says:

Exactly right Atomic, Its good to see the Omega has leather seats which definately gives it a lot of class when added to the recent updates o the Omegamodel year 9. To those complaining about special editions raining on Fords parade what do you expect Holden to do on their 60th Anniversary? Do you expect them to do nothing? You cant be serious if thats what you believe. Ford have done the same and I would expect Holden to release a 30th anniversary of the Commodore before the years end as well so get used to it. It makes good marketing sense compared to what Ford have done with the FG Falcon yet at the same price when Ford dont even offer curtain airbags at the price.

  19. golfschwein says:

Rick harris, I haven’t driven a Captiva. My brother and cyster-in-law recently bought a Captiva Maxx, and that version at least has agreeable styling and finish, inside and out.

I know the tipping-over feeling. It was caused by driving a Daihatsu Terios around a corner at normal speed 8 years ago. It stayed planted, but the terror was real.

  20. golfschwein says:

The pictures indicate the whole seat is leather. Holden don’t do a vinyl these days, so they must be.

  21. Frosty says:

Rick Harris, you have no idea, I dont even thik you really drove one. You are just a typical Jealous non Holden Hypocrite. I would rather drive a 80’s Lada Niva to a Territory.

  22. o says:

daewoo has no excuse for crap interiors have alook at the max its great

  23. COBRA says:

Frosty, where is your head, comparing a Lada Niva verse Territory………

  24. Oz. says:

Are you that same “Frosty” twit that made an unthoughtful attack on me on the “FG Falcon Pricing Announced” article and I seem to of pounded you because you never responded to me? With your biased attitude (”rather have an ’80s Lada Niva to a Territory”) it seems like you are that same twit. You tell me “respect” has to be earned? Why the friggin hell would I need your respect for? You just an arrogant biased Holdenwoo freak that can’t keep Holden vs Ford on the race track. At least I can respect road-going Holdens at the same time I’m a Ford fan.

  25. TP says:

They know how to tart up their cars Holden… but thats about it, illusion of value. Someone in Aurion article mentioned how much better Omega is, the problem with a comment like that is the Omega has a 4 speed tranny and 180kw compared to 4 speed and 200kw in Aurion… and has less features. Some people are like children, looks prity but forget what actually matters!

  26. Oz. says:

That is outstanding value at $33,990 (assuming that’s the RRP) but this is just the 60th Anniversary Omega, if only the Omega could always cost this little.

  27. Phill says:

At least it has the power coming from the right end TP

  28. Wheelnut says:

TP – But Holden also know how to bolt an Eaton [M90]supercharger on to their engine and make it so it actually works instead of causing it to seize resulting in a potentially dangerous fire..

They also have buitl some of the most sought after cars in Oz – I am yet to hear about a 1980 Celica selling for over $80K like a number of HDT Commodores Monaros and Toranas have recently

They also know how to design and build show-stopping attention-grabbing cars like the TT-36; Efijy; [Mambo] Sandman; SS-X; Utester; Monaro 427; The HRT Maloo.

  29. golfschwein says:

    Hear you, Wheelnut. Sad.

  30. Atomic SSV says:

Wheelnut not to pick on anything but you forgot one of their recent, best and my fav just above the TT-36: The Coupe60 :D
If only it was able to make production the way the concept looks.

  31. Wheelnut says:

TP – The only thing Holden know how to tart up their cars…. Isn’t that exactly the same thing that Toy-yoda have done to the Aurion Sportivo and the TRD Hilux?

  32. TP says:

Phil what right end? The end that loses more power to the wheels… the end thats less fuel efficient… the end that offers for all these losses a slight handling advantage, which despite the fact as per Wheels dynamics test placed it nearly last while the FWD Aurion in base form nearly beat the performance orientated XR6 benchmark!

  33. Myke says:

Obviously most disagree with you TP, why do the Commodore and Falcon sell more vehicles than the Aurion, considering they are not as powerful and thirstier?

  34. Phill says:

The end you can hang the back out.Ever heard of oversteer

  35. I'm one big Toyoda fan to TP says:

I like to oversteer my spinning skinny wheels, wearing a bowlers hat with my cardigan, Toyoda sells so many cars I just luv it so much, I can’t keep up with all da sales, I can feel da heat from fleet and hire companys, can’t get enough of Toyodas oh man FWD is da bomb………….. :-)

  36. Frosty says:

No Oz I have not writte to you before but if you are one that uses childish names for Holden like you have here I wish I had of. And yes I would not be seen in a Territory. It is well behind stylewise, Drinks more fuel than most its competitors and the resale would be pathetic due to the amount you see. Also since its been out have you seen any significant updates to keep pace with the competition apart from a turbo version.

  37. Maxta says:

What does this news of the 60th anniversary edition of the SS-V mean for the rumours of a Series II being released in May 08.

Me thinks the Series II won’t be here now till late 2008 ?

  38. TP has never back up the 25% Diesel claim says:

That even better value than the Aurion specials…

  39. Rick Harris says:

Frosty …u are a twit. The Territory is the best handling SUV on the market…eveyone except you accepts that.
I am tired of hearing that the Aurion has more power than a Falcon. 5 or 10 kw makes hardly any difference especially as power is created so high in the rev range. Why dont I hear Toyota saying that the Aurion has 50 nm LESS torque than a Falcon?? How come the Aurion gets outsold by the “OLD” BF Falcon? The Territory is due for an update but it is still selling strongly in its class which shows you how good it is.

  40. Frosty says:

Territory is no longer the best selling and will continue to lose sales as newer competition comes. Captiva sales are even closing in on it despite only being on sale less than 2 years

  41. Rick Harris says:

Frosty………a 1980 Lada would be a good comparison to any of Holdens …..i mean Daewoo vehicles in terms of quality and refinement …….well done. Do you know why Holden went for importing cheap Korean cars? It was because they over spent on the VE to catch up to the BA\F Falcon in some areas. Thats why the dirveline in a VE is still nowhere near as good as a BF. This Billion dollar car that is only a few years old will be so outdated when FG comes out is is not funny……..oh.wait ….yes it is !!!!!!!

  42. Wheelnut says:

The reason Holden went for Daewoos is because the CEO at the time Dumb-arse Denny Mooney who has since returned to the US [thank god] decided it would be a better option as the exchange rates between Oz and Korea were more favourable than Oz and Europe.

Which; as he saw it would help increase their profit margin
because he believed that those in the small car sector would still be happy with a basic car like the daewoo
[as they have been in the past] not realising the new standard of features etc set by new cars such as VW Golf

How wrong he was. Sales of the Daewoo Barina plateaued and stareted to fall to a point where dealers were slashing prices [inorder to move stock] by so much that they were actually eating into or even wiping out the initial savings

Whereas had he gone for the slightly more expensive [and far more popular] Opels.. sales would have exceeded demand so much that they would be shipping themm in in greater numbers which would have reduced the cost per unit equal to that of the daewoos and the high demand would have enabled them to charge a slght premium for those who really wanted an Opel

Fortunately the new CEO has realised this and is looking at bringing the Opels bac to Oz

  43. Oz. says:

OMG, I’m finding it a bit too hard to believe there’s 2 biased Holdenwoo fans by the name of “Frosty” MkI & MkII is it? Sorry I don’t think I have to believe that.

You hate the Ford Territory because it’s no longer the best selling SUV? Looks like you having trouble defending yourself. Really, don’t bother with trying to state reasons, you hate Territory’s as you strongly hate the Ford motor company.

  44. COBRA says:

Wheelnut, it’s unfortunate Holden went down the Daewoo path it does paint a sloppy picture for Australian car industry, Holden should be held responsable affecting its own image, when people go on about brand trusting and beauty is in the eye of the beholder, while part of this is true this does not pierce the skin of that polished badge, must leave owners a sour taste knowing Daewoo has not left Australia at all, take the covers off Holden no point hiding…………

  45. AZ says:

“This Billion dollar car that is only a few years old will be so outdated when FG comes out is is not funny……..”
Rick harris, isnt the FG built on the same platform as the BA/BF?? Dont think it’ll be all that different…

  46. realcars says:

Nobody can honestly say that the new Commodore isn’t a brilliant looking car. The new FG also looks brilliant!

Im a falcon man so I’ll go with the FG.

Australian auto industry is world class when u consider these offerings. How what about the Territory and what a brilliant design that is!!!

  47. Oz. says:

AZ, what the hell has the platform design got to do with how it will go against the VE, do you mean it will be exactly the same as the current BF no improvements? Have you even heard the FG is 90% a whole new car? How many times have people posted on here saying the new Falcon won’t be better than the current one because it’s not clean sheet and won’t specify why Ford needs clean sheet architecture in the new FG Falcon?

  48. Rick Harris says:

AZ …before opening your mouth and letting crap fall out why dont you go and read about the FG Falcon and see how much is different. I think the wheelbase and front \ rear tracks are different to BF anyway. The basic platform is good and wont affect the cars superior handling and driveability and refinement.

  49. Nick says:

No air conditioning I take? I guess it is a luxury usually only found the most exquisite of entry level korean cars so you wouldn’t expect it in an Australian designed and built large sedan.

  50. realcars says:

    Fair point Nick.

Hopefully the Koreans will continue to keep up the heat on standard equipment levels. Then again even the Koreans short change the OZ market with equip levels compared with what they offer as standard in the States and Europe. At least auto is a non cost option or standard on Falcon and Commodore.

Base Epica is better equipped than base Commodore which is a bit of an irony.
