New Subaru WRX, STI could arrive second half 2013
The new Subaru WRX and STI sports models will emerge from Japan around 18 months after the launch of the all-new Subaru Impreza.
The new WRX and STI will be completely separate from the Impreza range, in much the same way the upcoming Subaru XV will break away from the Impreza model line-up.
Like the XV, however, the Subaru WRX and STI are ex...
Subaru WRX STI breaks Isle of Man lap record
Avid motorsports fans will be quick to point out that the Isle of Man is usually only associated with motorcycle racing, but a car lap record has been in place for 21 years. That record has now been beaten by a Subaru Impreza WRX STI.
Mark Higgins, a former British Rally ace, took the WRX STI sedan around the road course in just under 20 min...
Subaru separates Impreza from WRX & STI
With the launch of the fourth generation Subaru Impreza, the Japanese company will separate the Impreza model from the WRX and STI variants. Whilst the new 2012 Subaru Impreza naturally aspirated models will go on sale as soon as supply production from Japan is sorted, the WRX and STI variants will continue to be sold in the third generation shape...

Isn’t fifth gear that show we use as filler in between seasons of Top Gear?
CapnCrunch
Pretty much.
Didn’t seem overly impressed by it, did he?
http://ford Nick
Funny he does not think much of it. This is coming from arguably the best steerer of the lot. I happen to agree with him
Bel
I did have a brief drive of this new STI and I do agree with him, it is a very soft road car designed to attract your euro luxury drivers to the STI brand.
I didn’t quite understand the point of this car. I mean, it is more expensive than the Golf R32, and I really did not notice any gains. It has got more power but the feel and finsih of the car is nowhere near as nice as the R32. It just does not look horny enough, if you catch my drift.
Power delivery was linear, smooth and weak. It just felt like a big, heavy car when accelerating in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear from low revs to red line.
PS: I also find it funny that it costs less in UK than a 2006 STI and here it is 3k more.
TP
Im not sold on this guy, the same show and reviewer went about comparing a regular Impreza to a WRX in an attempt to discredit Subaru… simply jumping on the bandwagon of people who dislike the Impreza.
Mick
Im confused did Tiff like it or not like it? Didnt really give an answer apart from not as good as the previous model
Mick: that is why fifth gear will always be regarded as the inferior show compared to Top Gear. Their decisions are always based on hard figures and not on emotion or feel. Fifth gear is the opposite of Clarkson’s cool wall.
Flying High
Bel, that is a load of bollocks. There is no chance you could have driven the STi in 1,2 and 3rd gear and come out saying it feels big and heavy. For one thing, you would have been plastered in the back of your seat. The performance of the car is without question. Maybe you were driving the Golf and got confused?
At any rate, what is questionable is the credibility of the Fifth Gear presenters.
And maybe Car Advice would care to pose a question to Subaru as to why the STi is cheaper than last years model in the UK and here it is more expensive? I mean given the strength of the AUD, that has got to be load of horses=it doesn’t it?
CapnCrunch
FH don’t get me started on car prices in Oz. I’ve asked our friends at CarAdvice to look into what makes our cars so expensive but have had no reply…
jamison
simply we get ripped in Oz..
I’d be driving a brand new M3 over here in the states for the money I’d pay for a regular S4 over in oz.. and have more change left over…
Its the economy and low (very) volume classification of the cars… the 350Z being 75K compared to 35K in the States is also a crime.. considering the AUD is almost catching up with USD…
but again it comes back to small economy…
Kenzo
supercujo,
thats correct. normal drivers can relate more to clarkson and gang. rather than compared to tiff and beans potato who are more interested in cars are only for race drivers mentality.
Jamison, you made me choke. the price i paid for a civic sport i could have got a 350z. haha.
Ivan
Bel, you might be confused between the normal WRX and the STI, or maybe you’re used to driving the Ariel Atom
I think one of the reason why Oz cars are so expensive is because of the taxes the govt impose on the cars. If you go and buy a car in Singapore, it will be 3 times more expensive than Oz.
The market also plays a part in pricing. More bulk buying power like US can get cheaper price for individual car.

Fifth Gear = laugh ……..because people in that show mostly doesn’t make sense at all
