Subaru UK is offering a special edition 2011 Subaru WRX STI 320R with an enhanced engine tune and higher specification levels for customers who purchase the vehicle before June 30.

Specially developed in-house at Subaru UK, the 320R power pack takes the standard 221kW/407Nm 2.5-litre turbocharged Boxer engine, mounts it lower in the engine bay and increases performance to 235kW of power and 450Nm of torque.

As a result, acceleration from 0-100km/h drops from 5.2 seconds to 4.9 seconds, making it as fast as a Jaguar XFR.

All WRX STI 320R models will also get satellite navigation with a removable touch screen (for easier information downloading), as well as Bluetooth and USB/iPod connectivity.

The offer applies to both sedan and hatch variants, and best of all, does not add to the £32,995 ($51,950) price of the standard Subaru WRX STI. The vehicle will be sold exclusively in the UK.

Subaru Australia’s David Rowley said there were no plans in the immediate future for a higher performance WRX STI in Australia.

Mr Rowley said performance enhancements for local products were generally the result of close collaboration with the factory in Japan rather than exclusive special editions by Subaru Australia itself.

The UK sells proffesionally tuned variants for both the WRX and the Evo X, this is really unfair

    • rt

      and cheaper too

      100km/h in a WRX is still 100km/h in a Fiesta :)

      • Ben xr6

Pfft yeah but you can get there faster!

  • SZQ

and yet it still looks like a cheap $20,000 car of early 2000′s from korea

  • MeestaNob!

WRX: Proof that you CAN outrun ugly.

  • D

The Subaru Australia website states that the current model does 0-100 in 4.9 sec.

    • Hector

real world stats show something more like 0-100 of 6.0 flat.

this car has same engine as prior Sti however it is even more obese. Can’t expect to run quicker after binging on cheeseburgers for a couple years.

      • Guest

Unlikely. Stock 09 WRX’s in Australia can do it in 4.9 stock, and 4.0 after a TBE and a tune.

Go to youtube if you need proof.

So we in Australia are comparitively down the road from Japan as compared to UK, but our prices are still significatly different. Some 45% more expensive in fact. Obviously shipping cost is not the pricing factor in play here.

I guess the real question is, if you can drop the engine lower and increase performance for no additional cost, then why.t.f. don’t Subaru just ship em standard like that?

    • Jober As A Sudge

Not so much the shipping cost but the fact that the UK buy them in larger bulk numbers than we do thus are able to negotiate a better price out of Japan.
Thou it is disheartening to see the price difference between car prices here and the YouEssAy

  • Ben

Yep, they should ship them here too. No doubt. But let’s not forget how easy it is to go to one of fantastic tuners who would not even pass a drop of sweat wreaking much more than this performance safely from a wrx or sti
