Volkswagen will unveil the all-new Volkswagen Beetle in three different countries at the same time on April 18: at the Shanghai Auto Show and at World Stage events in New York and in Berlin alongside live performances by the Black Eyed Peas and 2manydjs.
We have already seen the car in almost-full detail over the past six months through spy shots and teasing previews, but the car will make its official debut in just a couple of weeks’ time. The car will be in full production trim, so even though recent spy images (pictured) may appear to showcase full details, the actual production car might be slightly different.
The Beetle is said to come with not only a new body shape but it will also offer a more comfortable interior using higher quality materials. It will also be packed with more technology inside and out including a touch screen interface with all the trimmings, and a new range of more fuel efficient engine and gearbox packages.
Under the bonnet, a number of turbo-diesel four-cylinder engines are likely to be on offer as well as a turbocharged 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol four-cylinder. All models will also reportedly feature twin exhaust outlets like the original Volkswagen Beetle of the Sixties.
Look out for our full reports on the unveilings on April 18.
