2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe specs
In the wake of its world wide debut at the New York Auto Show, Hyundai has released the official specifications for its highly anticipated Genesis Coupe.
Although popularly speculated to receive a V8 power plant, the Genesis Coupe will be available with two engine variants, a 3.8-litre V6 and a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder.
More importantly though, the Coupe has retained its rear-drive orientation in a body lighter than the Infiniti G37 and a chassis 24 percent stiffer than the BMW E46 M3 - widely acclaimed as one of the world’s most agile rear-drivers.
The 3.8-liter Lambda DOHC V6 engine delivers 228kW and 356Nm, accelerating the Genesis Coupe from zero to 100km/h in just under six seconds - matching the Nissan 350Z for performance.
The turbocharged, intercooled 2.0-liter DOHC inline four-cylinder benefits from Continuously Variable Valve Timing (CVVT) technology, developing 158kW and 294Nm.
Both engines are mated to a standard six-speed manual transmission. The Genesis Coupe 2.0t is also available with an optional five-speed automatic with while the 3.8-liter V6 offers a ZF six-speed automatic transmission.
The flagship SE model also features a highly impressive brake package, with Brembo four-piston calipers clamping down on 340mm rotors up front and 330mm down back.
The Genesis Coupe also features segment-leading occupant safety, with driver and front passenger advanced frontal airbags, along with front seat-mounted side airbags, side air curtains and active front head restraints.
The front seatbelts have pretensioners and force limiters, and the rear seats feature LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children), which make affixing child safety seats easier.
All Genesis Coupe models feature standard four-channel ABS with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist, couple with Electronic Stability Control (ESC) standard across the range.
The Genesis Coupe is offered in three trim levels: the stylish and affordable GS, the premium-sport GT featuring the 3.8-liter V6, and the high-performance SE, available with either the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine or the 3.8-liter V6 engine.

Just one thought - but I have read elsewhere that the Genisis is only being made LHD and Hyundai Australia are not intending to bring it as they don’t seem themselves ready to break into the “Luxury” sector yet… any comments?

Prices? thats the all important bit, as it is a great looking car with Great specs (on paper anyway) but the price will be the decider in my eyes, being a hyundai it will have to still be relatively cheap (compared to more well established manufaturers cars of a similar spec)

Hyundai doesn’t want the new big saloon. Too much luxury.
The Genesis Coupe will sell well here.

Very impressive!
Beautiful RWD coupe at a reasonable price….Love the interior
Would consider V6 if fuel price wasn’t so high, but 2.0T looks like a good choice too!

Genesis Coupe will be sold here in Australia.
2009.
Will be our “Hero” Car.
V8 Tau still to be confirmed.
2.0 Turbo and 3.8 100% heading to our shores.

I think it would be a shame if the Genesis Coupe (and for that mater the sedan) didnt make it to our shores. What I find disappointing is that only now Hyundai Australia (&UK) are lobbying Hynudai/Genesis to build RHD vehicles, or at least they haven’t been making that much noise. I think the dealer network needs an education too.
Its probably too little too late. Any car buff will have followed the coupes birthing over the last few years, and it has been obvious with our tuner orientated youth, such a car would do well in oz (not so sure about the uk though). This car (the coupe) should’ve been engineered with rhd in mind from its inception, as reverse engineering rhd into a platform is prohibitive, and in this day and age with safety engineering requirements, nigh impossible.
I would buy one, but if I had to put money on it, I dont think we’ll be seeing this one here. We’ll get the FWD veloster based on the i30 platform though, but if anyone has any news that can confirm rhd for genesis, i’ll be one happy Vegemite.

Sounds like a retuned version of the Grand Carnival 3.8 v6 engine.

I personally don’t see any reason why it wouldn’t make it here…Only Hyundais sold in Korea and U.S that didn’t make it here is Veracruz and Genesis Sedan (just yet).
Because Genesis Coupe is the sequel to Tiburon, I personally think it will definately make it here.
About the pricing, 2.0T version in Korea is known to be slightly cheaper than the fully-optioned current V6 Tiburons. So I guess we are looking at sub-35k for 2.0T version.

Is very slick car with a slick motor….but
1. Grille looks to narrow in width and is devoid of character as looks like Elantra grille too much (too much plastic bumper between headlights and grille edge
2. WTF…no back wiper blade?
Will sell well if priced right and inclusions are included (not optioned up). Inside is sweet as, makes Toyota look ordinary!

I reckon that it is fantastic that the Koreans especially Hyundai have come along and are mixing things up a bit.
The consumer is really starting to benefit by this new blood in the auto industry.

Looks like a mutated new Mazda 6, nice engine hope its reliable. Interior looks much better than those lower end hyundais by far.
As maxy says it all better be priced well. Im guessing Tiburon is no more…?
I like it, cant wait to sit in one and give it a test drive. Brings a nice wedge in the mundane 2seater sports market

I kinda liked the concept, but the production version.. as always… after the engineers pretty much butchered the stylists visions… its expected.. after all it has to use the same structural elements with present cars…
well, it looks cheap now… the back reminds me of a G35 coupe. The front, a stretched IS250… the side… a tiburion…
the engine specs look okay, but too many conflicting design elements.
And someone said this looks “better” than the 350Z?
okay, well proves that beauty is definitely on the eye of the beholder…
350Z’s body lines and design is much more “flowing”.. the rear lamps could be more aggressive but.. judging by the new 370Z, they like it that way.. and its there to stay.

Yeah the 350z is a nice looking car but the styling is a bit bland now and I agree with Allan. Japanese sports cars often look spectacular upon their release but after a couple of years don’t look much sportier than newer family sedans. The styling qs carried over from the Tiburon can’t be a bad thing and Hyundai detail at least means it is it’s own car.
The interior looks pretty good to me as well.

I love this car, its more aggressive than a G37, should handle better than a Mustang, looks more refined than most of its competition. Just hope that it lives up to the hype. Hyundai benched marked some respectful cars, If they succeeded, especially in perforamance, I can’t wait to get one.

What a great looking car, Hyundai have done it again, cant wait for it to arrive in Australia.
Travis they can charge what they want for this thing, what else are you going to buy?? a 350Z?hope you have 70k, crossfire?90k BMW$$$$ Toyota?? dont have a car, Mazda rx8 50k +++
Duck a Commo is an 1800 kg boat ankor what are you talking about??
Joher, are you seriously questioning the reliability of a Hyundai??? 5 year unlimmited klm warrenty, more security companys abd hire cars use Hyundai vehicles based on the reliability.
TP how can you realy tell what the interior is like, as suggested take a look at the i30.
Overall cant wait for this car, Look out Nissan and Mazda and friends.
