Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG unleashed
Mercedes-AMG has unleashed the highly anticipated C 63 AMG derived from the highly acclaimed and award winning Mercedes-Benz C-Class range.
Its Australian debut took place at Australia’s spiritual home of motor racing, where the C 63 AMG completed a lap of the internationally-renowned Mount Panorama racing circuit.
“This is the ideal playground for this stunning performance saloon: the road-going model of our most successful touring car at the home of touring car racing in Australia,” Horst von Sanden, managing director for Mercedes-Benz Cars in Australia.
The C 63 AMG is far from out of place at the iconic home of the bent-eight, boasting an AMG-designed and developed 6.3-litre V8 petrol engine.
Developing peak output of 336kW at an enthusiastic 6,800rpm and maximum torque of 600Nm, the C 63 AMG accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds.
Power is left in the more than capabale hands of AMG’s Speedshift Plus 7-Tronic transmission, equipped with steering-wheel mounted shift paddles and an automatic throttle blipper for rapid downshifts.
Driving agility is enhanced with AMG speed-sensitive sports steering and the new, 3-stage ESP, along with specially-developed AMG sports suspension components and 18-inch AMG light-alloy wheels.
Distinguishing the AMG deviation from the standard C-Class is a new bonnet with power domes, the distinctive AMG radiator grille, flared front wings, the AMG rear apron with a black diffuser insert, the AMG sports exhaust system with two chromed twin tailpipes and the AMG spoiler lip.
The new Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG Saloon begins at $139,500.

The CGIs (I think were of this) looked stunning, now that I’ve seen real photos I’m starting to get bored looking at it.

I thought the C63 had a 6.2L V8, not a 6.3L.

Bargain compared to the M3 and RS4 if its handling can match its straight-line ability! If it’s like the AMGs of old, this will probably not be the case..

Yes it is a 6.2, as with all the other AMG “63″ models like S63, CL63, SL63 and so on. Mercedes rounded it UP (even though it’s 6208cc), probably for nostalgia - in keeping with the somewhat famous 300SEL 6.3 of the seventies

Thats real cool. But remember the base Aurion on its skinny tyres will outrun this and is a far more dynamic drive, the Aurions dash is far better quality along with residual values that are higher. It scheaper to at 25% of the Mercs cost. Gosh I sound just like TP. Brainwashed

Nice but im my humble opinion the engine bay looks a little bit cheap and uninspiring… where is the kompressor??? not like it needs it at 336kW + 600NM but come on its an AMG for crying out loud! oh and looks fantastic too..

Hey JBOT………ease up babe not the same as the 318 poverty.
I give you its lacking but of the one Mercs I have ever owned that was 4 times as much as any 3 series at the time I took it back cause of faults in the burr walnut!hahaha true story along with the CD player that kept skipping.Funny how you get fussier the more you spend on a car.
I like AMG …..hey its the only Merc I practically do like but BMW M range is about drivers experience not what the interior is like. I mean if you want luxury go Lexus, boring but they have luxury in mind.
Mr Funk………….really now there’s a surprise.hehehe
BMW M and AMG is a HUGE step up from HSV,hell the guy that owned my M3 before me owned a club sport and another I know traded his GTP in on a NEW M3 cause he was sick of being hassled by the cops in it,go figure! Oh and he up graded to an M5 from the M3 no going backwards…..

A colleague has ordered one, and he was fortunate enough to attend the drive day at Mt Panorama on Monday.
He got to do about 6 laps all up with various “co-drivers” including Mick Doohan and Will Davison…. He said that (un)fortunately, it was electronically speed limited to 255kph and the traction control was turned on. Good thing that traction control, because without it, we may have been attending some funerals next week!
Hearing his stories, I found myself considering re-mortgaging the house and getting into one of these beasts, but alas, I find them so damn bland!!

I’m surprised nobody has noticed this is .2 seconds quicker than HSV quotes for its up and coming 7.0L car and will probably be cheaper too. Probably more solid, comfortable, quieter, better quality, more frual more nimble, more fun more German I could go on.
PS I love Aussie cars but it seems odd, as HSV had a significant value advantage with the GTS300 against similarly powered Euro rockets (E39 M5, E55 XJR et al)in 1999.

Good point PoisonEagle. It would be pretty easy to justify the extra few k for the Merc over the HSV!

Dont forget that as good as this is, there is no way an adult would fit in the back, those seats are purely for kids! I could hardly get myself in/out let alone close the door once I was in it.
