Skoda produces two-millionth Octavia
Škoda has reached an epic milestone, having produced its two-millionth Škoda Octavia in Vrchlabí.
Whilst only a new entry into the Australian market, Škoda Auto is a well established manufacturer in its home nation of the Czech Republic.
The two-millionth vehicle is a silver Octavia Scout 2.0 TDI, the leisure-time version of Škoda’s best-selling Škoda model.
Altogether the company has produced 1,315,000 first-generation and 685,000 second-generation Octavias since the market launch several years ago.
Not one to rest on its laurels, Škoda has also begun testing the first of its Fabia Super 2000 prototypes.
Based on the second generation Fabia, the prototype is destined to compete in the Super 2000 category.
In compliance with the FIA regulations, is equipped with a two-litre atmospheric four-cylinder petrol engine, a six-speed sequential transmission and a four-wheel drive system with three mechanical differentials.

Octavia at the rear looks or reminds me of a Renault Megane at the rear.
Vote:And the fabia reminds me of the Suzuki Swift (its body shape).

Well done Skoda, I saw these cars for the first time at the Melbourne Motorshow and was very impressed.
I was also surprised as in the metal they are a pretty good looking car, which most photos dont give justice.
Hopefully we get more models out here rather than just the Octavia.

I don’t think I’ve seen a Skoda on the roads yet, atleast not in Sydney.

O, what’s with the weird rear side window shape with the Golf, Jetta and Passat? They’re all different!
If you lived in Europe, Duck, you’d probably think the Swift reminded you of the Fabia. The Fabia’s old news over there.

The current Octavia is a good car but is well into its’ model cycle. Anyone know of any spy or cgi images for the next gen? I’d guess it will be built on the golf vi platform.

Hey…I don’t get it…difference between VW GTi and RS…in price is bugger all…yeah the RS is a bit bigger but…you save the difference between as soon as you drive of the lot as resale for the Gti will be much better…bargin i don’t think so! Skoda on that model are pulling our legs!

Lcat, I think the Octavia is a relative freshy, is it not? You know, based on the Golf Mk5 platform and all? I know the previous Octavia looked similar.

^current Octavia released 2004, very minor facelift 2007.
Vote:maybe next gen 12 months after golf vi is released?
mk1 was built on golf iv. my brother in scotland had that model in vrs format with the venerable 1.8turbo.

SKODA!! are you kidding me!! if you even consider buying one of these cheap versions of VW,s in australia at least
Vote:you should be shot!! Or entered into a mental home..
if you bought one of these things you might as well get
a bundle of cash and light it up!! the resale would be shocking!!! and if anyone says otherwise they have no clue
about the australian car industry!! car yards/wholesalers/buyers in the industry run and hide when they see cars like skoda pull up! eg saab, citroen, land rover, volvo etc etc.. so if you dont care about money go ahead but ill bet you will be the first to complain come trade in time…

Mate, Look the resale value of cars in the Uk, and you will see the skoda actually has a better resale value then the VW…
And recently in a UK car publication skoda was the only european car manufacturer that had made the top 10 list on the customer satisfaction survey!! And skoda had two models on that list!!
Seriously whats everyones fascination with vw…. Almost every other car sold in Australia shares it’s platform with another, and you yet dont see people harp on it so much??!!!
Vote:And look at the roomster, you cant say that it’s a rebadged vw clone!!

worried about resale u better ride a push bike!
or spend a motza on a classic and don’t use it!
