2008 Jaguar XF pricing announced

March 11, 2008 by Karl Peskett

The new Jaguar XF will arrive in showrooms in June, it was announced today. Pricing will begin at just over $100K, with four versions to choose from.

2008 Jaguar XF

The entry level 3-litre V6 petrol, and 2.7-litre twin turbo diesel kick off the range, at the starting price of $105,500. The 4.2-litre petrol powered V8 is next up at $130,500, leaving the supercharged 4.2-litre V8 to round out the XF stable at $166,700.

So far, the XF has been claiming awards overseas. It has bagged the What Car 2008 “Car of the Year” Award, in addition to the “Car of the Year” from the Sun newspaper and the “Interior of the Year” from Car magazine.

“The interest in XF – before anybody in this country has even driven the car – has been very satisfying. If things continue in this way, we may have sold out our entire 2008 allocation before a single vehicle is on the road here. What is also encouraging is that the XF is attracting a new group of customers to the Jaguar brand: more than three-quarters of those who are contacting us about XF have never owned a Jaguar before.” said Dorian Lapthorne, General Manager, Jaguar Australia.

If this doesn’t work I’m looking forward to a leather trimmed Tata Nano with four big discs, a supercharged two cylinder engine and a big cat on the bonnet, all beautifully finished in British Racing Green. Not too far removed from Ford’s effort with the awful Mondeo-based X-Type.
    Just joking.

  5. o says:

cool maybe there will be a deal by an xf get a tata nano free

  6. Fred says:

Really looks promising but I hope buyers overlook the Tata backing.

  7. Duck says:

Yeah! But will the Cadillac CTS-R be better?

  8. Duck says:

    ^^^^^^^Or CTS?

    CTS (V6)
    CTS-R (V8)

  9. Captain Mainwaring says:

Hard to comprehend, but the number of seriously rich people in India already exceeds the total population of Australia by at least ten to one, and the ongoing growth in wealth is rampant. There is buying power in India and China that is going to dominate the world for the next half-century at least. Rich Westerners now need to invest what’s left of their money in Asia because the mature markets have done their growing.
Forget about Australia being a place to manufacture cars, these days that’s like making wide-body airliners in Norway.
Tata will be a big part of the world’s automotive future, whether or not their brand name is on all the cars they make.

Boy your Government is shagging you lot for the tax, The 2.7 Diesel start here at $76K. Glad i’m here now.
I work 100m from a jaguar dealer and have looked at this in the flesh, its loverly with a big L. The demonstrator hardly gets chance to cool down theres so much interest.
However I don;t think the front end is a class as the Aston style rear end. Good stuff this Tata XF then!!!

Looks like ford sold at the right time?

  12. Andrew says:

Duck says “Yeah! But will the Cadillac CTS-R be better?”

Ah no. The Americans aren’t good at making cars. I could mention what is wrong with them but where do you start?

  13. XR2_Capri says:

didnt Top Gear say that the caddy is a saab or the saab is a caddy?

  14. No Name says:

XR2 Capri – yep you’re right the Caddy is a Saab in a box unstylish suit.

  15. James F says:

I remember when I would glance at a Jag and know instantly – YEP thats a Jag…

When I first saw the XF – I had to do a double take. Didnt recognise it.

Sorry, not a fan. I love the old traditional Jag shape. It used to be such a differentiating feature between brands (like the Aston for example).

No doubt its a great car, but I used to love the shape of the Jag. not so much now.

  16. rocket_v6 says:

please TATA build another car like this a bit cheaper so i can afford it.

  17. Chris Parr says:

Looks much better than the opposition, makes a BMW 5 series
look seriously bland!! who cares where the money comes from (tata) as long as it has a jaguar badge and looks like that I would buy one…

  18. Duck says:

    Andrew,
Look Caddy’s as we know it has never been that good but thats all going to change. MOTOR MAGAZINE said……………”The new CTS is a proper alternative to a Series or C-Class”. Cadillac is landing on the shores of Oz in October this year.

  19. Duck says:

Cadillac CTS starts at $75,000 (estimated)

    Engine- 3.6 Direct Injection. Power- 229kw at 6400rpm. Torque-374nm at 5200rpm. Top Speed- 241km/h. 0-100km- 6.3 secs (claimed)

    Weight-1757kg

MOTOR MAGAZINE also said…………..”If the CTS doesnt succeed here, it’s not because of the car”.

  20. Duck says:

^^^^^^^^^^Its also rear wheel drive and it uses a 6 speed auto

  21. BobB says:

    Price in UK $A70 700 – $A114 500
    Price in Australia $105 500 – $166 700
The UK is not known as a low tax country!
Please explain why is there such a great difference Jaguar-LandRover Australasia?
