  1. Oz. Says:

That last guy in the MkI Cortina is almost a celebrity, but I think he’s ok (ESPECIALLY WHAT HE SAID ABOUT GLEN RIDGE) And he’s a Ford bloke, so Top Gear wont be a biased show.

Sorry mate but No.1 too brash but possibly OK, No2 - Wants to be a female James May - nothing wrong in that. Duo No3 -nope sorry lads, stick to you daytime jobs. No.3 yes Ok.
Its gonna be a really difficult job for whoever to match up to the UK TG. Don’t copy it verbatim, it’ll flop else. Leave TG on the schedule and come up with something new.

    Doesn’t this tell you anything?
Leave the show be. Go make another show about Police or the country and outback or a suburb thats “realistically” inhabited by anglo saxons.

  7. Wheelnut Says:

That’s right.. I mean they tried to make an american version of Ricky Gervais’ hit show “The Office” and it SUCKED

No matter how hard you try you will never be held in the same regard as the original…. so give up Now

  8. Duck Says:

    No.1- Wasnt bad!
No.2- Chatted alot about a type of car and didnt show them! Though she should have said Megan Gale V Jennifer Hawkins…….. there’d be alot of bitching between the two! And HOLDEN V FORD monster trucks aint a bad idea!
No.3-The bloke in the Mazda RX8 was a fool! “Mazda has taken a Mazda drivetrain and put it into a Mazda, mazda have put a mazda engine and put it into a mazda body”!
No.4-Agreed Grant Denyer is to short for the job! Shame he was a ford bloke but if he respects other companies such as holden and etc, id respect him to! But overall his probaly the best.

  9. Oz. Says:

I agree Duck, these are better than the last bunch. I had to agree with the last guy about what he said about Glen Ridge!!

  11. Sanjay Says:

i think the last one was pretty damn good to be honest. ford man, lives in SA…what more do you want :D

second and third ones were pretty lame, the use of fast-forward motion in the scenes was overdone and makes the film look dated.

first one was pretty damn good but i want to see the rest of their show before making any conclusions :D

  12. Bob Says:

Don’t forget Clarkson’s a MASSIVE Ford man, owns a Y Reg Focus himself, owned an Escort Cosworth and a Ford GT. I think Denyer’s a great one for the job and the Hammond equivalent.

  13. Michael Says:

    Denyer! DENYER!

    NO NO NO!

if they put him on there i will refuse to watch it, cant stand the little prick.

anyway, he’s on 10,000 other aussie shows, do we really need him on this?

  14. TP Says:

I liked the last one ONLY… he has the experience, can work with the camera and he was more down to earth. The others were over the top, like a helicoper ffs, its about the personality not what geeky special effects etc they can do, that wont be their job if they are hired.

  15. crazychook Says:

The last guy was the best out of the lot, but I have to agree with other replies. It will not replace the original Top Gear.

  16. Eddy The Expert Says:

Why is the first guy saying “horsepower” and “saloon”. Geeze he’s trying out for Top Gear AUSTRALIA, he should be saying Kilo Watts and Sedan.

    Wanker.

  17. Richo Says:

Denyer is on a pretty tastey channel 7 contract so there is no chance at all he would find his way onto an SBS show, however i personally think he wouldn’t be that bad.. He atleast has some credibility in the sense that he races cars, no he doesn’t win a terrific amount of races but he DOES atleast have some amount of talent and can talk on tv which isn’t as easy as alot of people think!

But out of those 4, first guy was ok, but not really good enough i don’t think, the second chicky didn’t seem to know what she was talking about.. the merceedes was a 5 door sedan was it? and the leather was so good it was actually vynel? wtf? nah she clearly is an idiot. The duo in the third movie where painful to watch, couldn’t get past the first couple of minutes. The 4th dude… yeah hes alright! Put it this way if i didn’t watch top gear australia it wouldnt be his fault cos he was pretty good and has some experience in motorsport which is good. Obviously he would have to put his ford bias to one side but i guess there are two other presenters there which can do the holden v ford comparisons if necessary so thats not really a problem.

Of the lot, only that jason guy in the last video is remotely worthy

Agree with ya 110% Wheelnut about the crap American version of “The Office”. Just give up SBS, give up… please!

  19. Punko Says:

Surely someone has mentioned Ian Luff. They have been airing a program on Pay TV which he co-hosts with another bloke, I think it’s Scott McGregor.

In any case if you want someone who will call a spade a spade and have some fun, he’d be the best choice.

I think they should try and pull someone from the motoring fraternity and not necessarily one who look pretty on TV. What needs to be important is their respective driving skills.

    (Report)

  20. Richo Says:

Punko i agree that they probably need to snatch an existing and respected australian motoring journilist to head up the show, and personally i think david morley who currently writes for motor amongst other things would be an ideal choice

  21. harry Says:

I heard little John Howard, Alexander Downer and Peter Costello have teamed up for the threesome. Their demo CD will be out once Alexander’s Mum unlocks the cupboard and lets him go over to Johnnies house. Script goes:
JH: Errrr ahhhhh ahhhh they ahhhh say this ahhhh ahhh automobile goes errrr really fast…
AD: Yes Johnnie, weally weally fast.. it’s wery scary…
PC: Well viewers, aren’t they a pair of dickheads…
    or something like that.
Anyway, I liked the last guy.

    Harry….Yeah ok.

Yep, the last guy is the best there.

  24. hammo Says:

I made video #1, and I can tell you that it was more for a laugh than anything. I had absolutely no expectations of being a host, but if someone wants to lend you their toys, it would be rude to say no. As for the horsepower and saloon references, I’ve just come back from 7 years in the UK - old habits die hard.
