Volkswagen Passat CC 2008 Geneva Motor Show
Destined to compete with the likes of Mercedes’ CLS, the VW Passat CC should prove to be a big hit if priced well. Essentially the car is a Passat sedan with the long, curved roofline of a coupe.

Very nice Passat. Some of the proportions and styling cues remind me of a Peugeot. 607 comes to mind
Passat has come a long way from the boring old box of the early nineties
The Passat CC: Answering a question no-one asked.
^A question that no one asked in Australia – which sells 1% of Volkswagen production. Nuff said.
awesome looking car
I agree Mitch, I think it’s an awesome looking car.
I agree with phillip.
Don`t ever knock a VW until you have owned one, I have a 2002 Bora V6 4motion and its been awesome car, way better than any Falcon I have ever owned and my last was an xr6 turbo so go the Passat
Admittedly it is nice but VW really need to plug in a diesel engine bigger than 2.0 litres. They have plenty a rage of oil burners engines from VAG 2.5, 2.7, 3.0, even 4.2 but that would upset the cars balance I guess.
Absolute stunning class. And still the people jump on this short term diesel bandwagon….unbelievable
Chad I’m not knocking VW per se. What VW do they do well: build solid semi-premium cars.
But trying to access the Merc CLS market will probably be as successful as when they built the Phaeton – a fantastic car but a failure in a market where people want a more luxurious badge. To Europeans the Passat is like a Camry is to Australians, so to offer one that has the same name, but looks a little different, is less practical and costs a bucket-load more is not great economics.
I think it looks stunning. No Name, I think one of the problems for VW is that it has to be careful it doesn’t step on Audi’s toes too much. If the people’s car had the same drivetrain range as the Audi’s for significantly cheaper then it would eat into Audi’s sales, which would hurt VW. VW needs to remain the mainstream brand, with Audi the premium brand.
Yes Tom, VW did however offer the previous Passat with both 4WD and VAG 2.5 diesel here. That was stepping on VW’s toes. Remember the Audi range is a lot more expensive than VW’s. The Passat starts at £38400 (UK) the A6 at $60K (UK). Thats a big difference for what is the same car effectively, VW also have the Phaeton whcih steps right on the toes of Audi A8. Donn’t somehow think they are too worried. cheers
Finally a really good looking passat! The others i find just too bland. This looks fantastic.
Speaking of falcon, does anyone else smell a bit of new falcon front end about it? Looks the goods especially if they can sit it below its competition.
VW are making it very difficult to ignore. I hang for the time the new A4 avant arrives, but VW keep making great looking and driving cars for half the price (3.2 V6 and R36). Very tempting indeed. But I am worried about resale and street cred. Cany anyone cure me.
this is prolly my next one Greg, 12 more months with the Jetta then time to chge. Looking forward to this one :)
