Volkswagen Scirocco 2008 Geneva Motor Show
Volkswagen Scirocco 2008 Geneva Motor Show
![]()
The Scirocco marks a new era in Volkswagen design, completely disassociated from typical VW design trademarks.
Derived from the Iroc concept, CarAdvice has previously produced an artists impression of the production Scirocco, however it appears VW has significantly modified the production model from the concept.

Available in a variety of performance derivatives, the Scirocco will feature Volkswagen’s 2.0 TSI engine, along with a turbocharged GTi model. A flagship V6 model is also a possibility, with the Scirocco offered with both front-wheel and all-wheel drive versions.

I’m disappointed they toned down the front end styling from the concept, the new front end looks much weaker and more anonymous. Not a bad looking thing all up though.

i always thought that the concept front end looked too much like audi’s and the new evo…keeping the concept front end would have just looked like they were copying them, imo

It’s impossible for VW to be copying the Evo. Designs for a car like this would have been locked in a while ago not to mention all the wind tunnel/engineering testing etc it would have endured.. The designs would have probably floated across some Audi designers desk and they would have probably given it the once over…(ok so maybe a bit more than that)
(correct me if I’m wrong??)
but you get the idea….Audi, Lambo, Porsche, VW…all share and pool Resources

It has similar design features to the new Impreza STI.. especially the frontal styling “fog lights”.. I wonder

bucket…im not saying VW would have been copying the Evo etc…im saying to many ppl, it would LOOK like they were copying the design to quite a few ppl due to the fact that the evo was released before this car…should have been more clear before.

That’s a fine looking car. A little Volvo C30 like from the side, but with the drive train options to outclass them all. Looks nothing like the STI to me, jeez the STI interior is ugly, it looks like the plastic junk in a showbag.. for that matter, so does the new Forester… another fugly subaru. They’ve nearly screwed every model now.
Love the fact that VW have opted for frameless windows.. and what about it in the V6 AWD option, I bet it will outsell the R32 , another outstanding VW product. Well done VW. Nice.

Being a VW sport-coupes die hard fan, in the last 20 or 30 years I owed 2 pcs of Scirroco GTI MkI, 2 of Sciroccos GTI MkII and the Corrado VR6. Now the new Scirocco? Ugly as pig, the rear as some old Civic?? The VR6 stays, no way I would substitute it for…this….

I agree that the front styling of concept was better. But this is also not too bad.I believe this car will be a legend.

I think volkswagen should have the more aggressive concept front design for the hardcore version (using a more refined version of Audis’ S3 engine) and i think the subdued front for the lesser powered model. But overall i think there is some Audish aura about it combined with Volkswagens’ newer more charismatic design, it all blends quite well together i think.
