  3. Wheelnut Says:

GM-Holden have got to do whatever it takes to bring the GT Down Under I would definitely have one over a MX-5.. Maybe even an S2000..as we missed out on the VX-220 Speedster

  4. Naughtyius Maximus Says:

GM Holden surely must bring this in together with the spunky Corsa Opel’s (replacement or ugrade for current Astra) as looks bees knees!

    (Report)

  5. Duck Says:

    Wheelnut,
Why wasnt the VX-220 Speedster brought to Australia?

    (Report)

  6. No Name Says:

Probably too fast for you boys..hee hee…only joking

  7. golfschwein Says:

gawd, just imagine Holden bringing in the old VX 220 and keping the Speedster tag. Harold Scruby Loosey and his cronies from the Pedestrians’ Council would had a purple fit!

Is this orange car the one based on the Pontiac Solstice? I read somewhere that an MX5 eats it alive, sadly.

Quote [Golfschwein] gawd, just imagine Holden bringing in the old VX 220 and keping the Speedster tag. Harold Scruby Loosey and his cronies from the Pedestrians’ Council would had a purple fit!

Well then I can see no better reason than that for Holden to bring the GT Down Under…. c’mon boys

    (Report)

  9. Wheelnut Says:

Golfschwein; the MX-5 eats the Solstice alive mainly because of its typical American set up; that is great in a straight line… crap through the windy stuff.
I also believe Lotus had a bit of a hand in the handling dept for the GT so given the awesome performance of the Exige I’d say the GT would be more of a worthy challenger to the mazda than the Pontiac

  10. Duck Says:

BRING IT OVER HERE HOLDEN…….please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Im begging on my KNEES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (The Opel GT)

    (Report)

  11. Oz. Says:

So is the Opel GT the new Opel Speedster?

    (Report)

  12. FORD Says:

looks like a character animation from the movie “CARS” with over done smile…besides that pretty plain looking…

    (Report)

  13. Wheelnut Says:

Yes the Opel GT replaces the Potent little VX220 Speedster from a couple of years ago

    (Report)

  14. Duck Says:

    Wheelnut,
What engine (power output and torque) and transmissions are used in the GT?

    (Report)

  15. Duck Says:

The only problem with the Speedster is that it should have had more power cause it looked so good! (KW were 140kW-150kW i think)

    (Report)

  16. Wheelnut Says:

The Opel GT uses a 250hp 2.0 Litre Turbo Ecotec Engine..
0-100Km/h in 5.7 seconds.. Top Speed of 230Km/h.. its RWD.. Multi-link Suspension [Enhanced by Lotus].. Premium Brake Package.. Recaro Seats..plus all the usual safety features Airbags ABS EBD TC etc

The main reason the VX-220 Speedster wasn’t sold here was not only cost but the fact that at the time Holden didn’t really believe there was enough demand in Oz for a 2 Seater Cabriolet Roadster even though it was buitl in both LHD and RHD

    (Report)

  17. Phill Says:

What would the cost be?It would be good at the right price

    (Report)

  18. Wheelnut Says:

In Europe you can get a fully optioned Opel GT for approx 40;000 euros = $66;000 AUD

    (Report)

  19. Duck Says:

    Thanks Wheelnut.

  20. briggsy Says:

is there any way of importing a vx220 to australia. I sold mine before coming over to the gold coast but would love to get one imported. You can pick them up 2nd hand for $20,000 in the UK. absolutely fab car, i’ve never had so much fun.

    (Report)

  21. No Name Says:

Yeh you could but you’d pay a lot of tax and import duties. I had a quote for shipping an Audi A6 for £900 taking about 6 weeks. Plus you’ll have to prove to the authorities it complies with Australian spec. Easier to buy something else really
