An E92 2011 BMW M3 ute has been spotted lapping the famous Nurburgring in Germany. Photos of the car were recently posted on BMW enthusiast blog and forum, M3Post.com.

There’s a number of rumours floating around as to what the car is all about and if production is likely, but according to one report, and probably the best bet, the BMW ute is a one-off car created by BMW for the BMW ZTechnik motorcycle department.

The car will be used as a general company runaround and will not go into mainstream production. It still features the same running gear as the normal BMW M3, with its 4.0-litre V8 outputting 309kW of power.

As for the camouflaging, according to the latest source, it’s just a part of company routines to add camouflaging to any BMW-produced test car.

It looks kind of cool and funny at the same time. Must be a ball of fun on the track with no weight over the rear wheels.

    • dadarjapit

My thoughts exactly.. He did converted an e39 M5 into a ute didn’t he?

      • Jimmy

Yes, the very definition of a cashed up bogan.

        • dadarjapit

Just goes to show that money can’t buy you taste.

          • http://CarAdvice The Salesman

Didd’nt Car Advice see one of these at the ute muster?

          • Andrew

I didn’t mind the M5 ute, it was well done. If not to everybody’s taste. This one doesn’t seem to flow as well. Probably because the E39 was a bit squarer?

For the cashed up tradie/farmer in a hurry.

The horsey sorts will like it, just enough room in the back for a couple of small bails, yet no chance of being mistaken for one of the common people.

Cashed up German bogan to BMW dealer:

“I vant an M3 ute. Ja, like ze one in Ostralia, ze land oft ze big jumping rat.”

    • ernie

If they were German they would probably speak German to the dealer instead.

Cashed up German bogan to BMW dealer:

“Seas. I woi ne M-droa Pick-up. Jå, wie d’Leite n Astraaalien, s’Lånd da groooße springde Råtte.” (rural Bavarian dialect – aka, utterly incomprehensible)

= “Servus. Ich will eine M-drei Pick-up. Ja, wie die Leuten in Australien, das Land der große springende Ratte”

        Happy, Ernie? ;-)

Looks like a German interpretation of an Australian interpretation of a sports car..

I cant imagine they would ever make a ute – but they did make that X6 and 5GT. I wonder if it is some sort of Cabrio or targa top style car in testing.

  • Alexis Denisof

Why does the bootlid still look like a separate piece? Or does it open downwards on this ute?

    • darren

why does it look funny ,,, der the picture is a fake ,its not bad but ive seen better , they r all fake

  • jeffro bo dingo

looks like a ssangyong to me a bit

  • Riceboy

    For the German bogan…

  • JD

Looks like they just cut part of the car to call it a ute. looks hideous, maybe because of the design. I’m happy with the coupe

  • Shak

Could it just be some cashed up person testing their little toy out?

  • Nath746
