Top Gear’s ‘Star in a Reasonably Priced Car’ segment could get a visit from royalty later this year. According to a recent report by Metro in the UK, Prince Harry has expressed a certain eagerness to tackle the show’s track and top the celebrity leaderboard.

Prince Harry has always had a need for speed and was recently selected to undergo special training at the American Army’s Yuma proving ground in Arizona to learn combat while piloting an Apache helicopter. The helicopter is generally regarded as the most fearsome helicopter in the world.

According to a source quoted in The Sun, Prince Harry is very keen to get behind the wheel.

“The prince is a massive Top Gear fan and is dying to give the Kia a spin. He loves driving and ideally he’d like to beat Tom Cruise just for the boasting rights.”

Tom Cruise became the quickest celebrity last series with a lap time of 1:44.2.

The 26-year-old is rumoured to star in the show’s next series, which is expected to return on BBC2 sometime in June.

  • Jimmy

Well if The Sun reported on it, it must be true…

  • Bold

Well, he will certainly top the chart if he does go to the show.

  • Toyota Guru

I hope he wears his Nazi costume and brings a bag of wacky weed too. :)

  • Shak

Tom Cruise isn’t the fastest any more. That comedian from Liverpool topped him by about two seconds i think.

  • UMWHAT

isn’t this the guy who was crying to go to afganistan

  • Why?

Let’s hope Clarkson asks the question “Who’s your real dad young man. Is it James Hewitt?” How else can you be the only ginger in the Royal family.

  • Devil’s Advocate

I don’t know what sources you used Brett but the Apache is not and has never been regarded as the fastest helicopter in the world, the ugliest and most dangerous maybe, but certainly not the fastest. There are many civil helicopters that are faster. With it’s firepower and defences it doesn’t need to be that fast, in reality it would struggle to keep up with a Blackhawk. The Lynx is generally regarded as one of the fastest helicopter.

    • MisterTwo

He said the most “Fearsome helocopter in the world”, that doesn’t necessarily mean fastest.

Anyway Airwolf is the fastest helicopter in the world, that can fly at over Mach 1.

    • Flying High

I believe the description used was “The helicopter is generally regarded as the most fearsome helicopter in the world” … but nothing was said about its ‘fastness’

      • Devil’s Advocate

MisterTwo and Flying High, the article ORIGINALLY said (ie on the 15th of March at 9:39am when I posted this) and I quote, “generally regarded as the fastest and most dangerous helicopter in the world”. The article has since been edited and corrected like any good journalist should do. Thanks for listening Brett!
