  1. ScottB Says:

So much better looking than the Escape…

    (Report)

  2. euroFordguy Says:

Bring it here ASAP. With the popularity of the segment, Ford needs to have a compact SUV. Put the 2.2 TDCi in it that is coming for the Mondeo and it’ll be a cracker.

    (Report)

  3. Duck Says:

It looks like its based on one of the Volvo concepts…………………

    (Report)

  4. Andrew M Says:

NM will be pleased to see this again………..

this is truely one of the upcoming models they need to get here quick smart.

    ScottB,
sure does look better than the very outdated looking escape, although i have been set straight in that the escape is quite a good vehicle as it stands.

im assuming this doesnt have any Mazda DNA……….
so if its heading the same way as the mondeo then it would be another great car.

    (Report)

  5. No Name Says:

It is nice, but basically a Focus on stilts with a price to match. The mondeo is cheaper to buy and run.

    (Report)

  6. Adam (aka Mada) Says:

How do you even know this when it’s not even on sale in AUS yet!?
This would be a better competitor than the current escape and thats the point.

    (Report)

  7. Naughtyius Maximus Says:

ANDREW M…yes yes yes. UNAMERICAN in its style and design, so it must sell. If you think Ford is unreal, go see USA website of Ford as crap to the highest degree! Ford has to get back to the days when it reigned supreme and sold heaps, this is a stepping stone!

    (Report)

  8. No Name Says:

Adam its not far away from being on ale where I live mate. The public have viewed it. I’m just saying whats with the hype with SUV. They are more expensive to buy, smaller, less practical for the money. Think about it, does this do anymore than say a Focus thats $15K cheaper. answer NO. You could buy a bigger Mondeo at the same price. Just my opinion

    (Report)

  9. Andrew M Says:

    no name,
so are you saying this will start at like $40K?

i know they are on the ford UK site but they are only listed as future models. only 4-6months ago they were still calling it a “concept”.
so when is the release date for the UK?

you only need to look at what is selling at the moment to realise that it wont be a waste of time if it is marketed properly here.
sorry to upset your way of thinking but right here people dont care about the economics or practicality of a vehicle.

bottom line is these things are selling here in numbers

    (Report)

  10. TP Says:

Looks like an Epica with an uglier interior.

    (Report)

  11. Andrew M Says:

    TP,
you are just so bitter because you just saw the carboard box looking SUV thingy that has just been released by toyota

    (Report)

  12. Naughtyius Maximus Says:

This is what TP doesnt understand….he can be passable at times and heaps of times comes out with an insane viewpoint and absurd comment! Even attacks people when not started by others!

Maybe Andrew M has spoken the truth as an ugly car it is…….AGAIN FOR TOYOTA!

    (Report)

  13. Naughtyius Maximus Says:

HA HA HA….looks like a Fiat Bambino with an uglier interior - GEE IS THIS YOUR NEXT “absurd” COMMENT TP?

    (Report)

  14. FORD MONDEO WINS AUSTRALIA'S BEST CARS Says:

This Beauty has Great body lines, Ford has done it again excellent job, Ford stands for fresh ideas, innovation, quality euro design, they just keep pumping out cars that people want, will be proud of and not have worry about putting on a cardigan feeling like their Toyota driving grand parents feeling outdated and dull, eewwww YUKKKKKKK………

GO FORD!!!!!!!!!!!!! GOOD LUCK JAMIE WHINCUP YOU SHOULD WIN EASY AT EASTERN CREEK…..

    (Report)

  15. TP Says:

Ford Kuga looks like a success story what beautiful interior. But the Aurion has terrible interior and exterior looks like a senior wheelchair, OMG can’t believe I just said that…….

    (Report)

  16. Naughtyius Maximus Says:

    Too right bro!

    (Report)

  17. Naughtyius Maximus Says:

TP…maintain cobber. The Aurion I like and is not bad, I like the Sportivo and is classy! Ford Falcon is now up there and cant wait to see review to see if real improvement with old chassis! Like I said….if another car maker had a LPG only dedicated motor and not dual fuel, I would buy! WHERE ARE THEY…AS THERE ARENT ANY OTHER THEN FORD!

    (Report)

  18. Naughtyius Maximus Says:

TP, your funny - thats a first!

    (Report)

  19. golfschwein Says:

Was someone just pretending to be TP? I smell a rat!

This is a fab looking car that leaves the Toyota B SUV thingy for dead, and I thought that was way less crook than usual for a Toyota.

    (Report)

  20. TP Says:

I meant to say Captiva actually, not Epica, it honestly looks similar to a Captiva. Still has nothing on a Kluger, Drive people mover of the year… and a shock to me, a bogan friend actually rates them after being driven by one.

    (Report)

  21. No Name Says:

‘a bogan friend actually rates them after being driven by one’.
What that refer to and mean TP. I’m lost or stupid or both.

    (Report)

  22. Andrew M Says:

    TP,
for one it will compete with the Rav 4 not the kluger,

and secondly how do you know anything about a car that hasnt yet been released?
i bet they wont sting 20K above market value though.

did drive really give it people mover of the year? gee that was sweet of them after giving it to the territory for 3yrs.

    bogans.
yep i told you bogans drive toyotas too

    (Report)

  23. Bavarian Missile Says:

No Name I thought the same…Focus with a lift kit!

    (Report)

  24. No Name Says:

On the same wavelength Bavarian. Cool. Unlike TP an8L intruder

    (Report)

  25. Eyma Teapot Says:

I havent ‘been driven by one yet ‘ but agree with TP,it does look like a Captiva but in a good way. Its as good a suv as i have seen and if they can improve on the build quality that we see on the territory, than ford might be on a winner.

    (Report)

  26. Bavarian Missile Says:

hahaha my antispam word was TOYOTA…..jealous TP?

Yep No Name I guess we are…..

You ever seen Revenge Of the Nerds……hahaha

    (Report)

  27. Oz. Says:

I like what you said in one of your posts TP!

    (Report)

  28. Naughtyius Maximus Says:

Or maybe we should direct a film called AMERICAN PIE 69 with ANDREW M as DIRECTOR and TP as main character. It will be a story of a young lad with bottle coke rimmed spectacles (TP) finding the car landscape does consist of a lot of car makers (other then Toyota) and having issues with car makers outside of Toyota world…and in his elusive search for some physical action of the opposite gender and all things in between. NOW THIS WOULD HAVE TO BE RATED “MA”……………………LOL

    (Report)

  29. Naughtyius Maximus Says:

Maybe we could have a love interest and the age of uni innocence with JBOT being the uni interest of TP as fresh out of uni first year working and makes $100,000pa AUD as an engineer…………LOL come to think of it he was working last year too and now he states only first year (3months in). HA HA HA HA HA

    (Report)

  30. jbot Says:

I think you’d better check yourself into a loony bin NM. What the hell is wrong with you??

    (Report)

  31. Naughtyius Maximus Says:

Iam fine Jbot. You want to look in the mirror. Maybe move that sausage thing hanging off your forehead! Had a pay rise January 2008? Loser

    (Report)

  32. jbot Says:

Mate, feel free to be jealous, but last time I checked this was a car website, so how about cleaning yourself up and stop leaving your filth as above around here?

    (Report)

  33. 4x4 man Says:

idiots. it is a volvo. ford has finaly used its brain, ditch that mazda shit and use something from a car manufacturer that knows how to buid cars

    (Report)

  34. Naughtyius Maximus Says:

My comments are in response to:
    1. MISSILES comment at 8.53pm 6/3/08

    “…Revenge Of the Nerds……”

    Reply to Jbot:
Read thread and not one comment!

    (Report)

  35. 4x4 man Says:

    focus is a volvo too

    (Report)

  36. jbot Says:

That reference to revenge of the nerds had nothing to do with what you said about me there (the whole i dont believe he can earn that BS). Again, if you insist on having a go at me, please quote your sources for things like “working last year”, as it is untrue and you know it. So if I were you, I’d find where i said that, otherwise your credibility will take another massive plunge.

    (Report)

  37. FORD MONDEO WINS AUSTRALIA'S BEST CARS Says:

I read someone has to mention the the words Holdenwoo Craptiva, I knew I could smell rotten eggs, get out of here TP you stink…..

    (Report)

  38. No Name Says:

Oh come on you two don’t start again. We got enough problems with TP. Tawn.

    (Report)

  39. No Name Says:

    sorry Yawn

    (Report)

  40. Naughtyius Maximus Says:

JBot - we spoke last year and you were out of uni you said. Your attitude and big headness are absurd and I really find you have no significant substance, no major comments on cars except minor comments, fairly sedate and your stupidity at an Engineer making more then a Builder very truly reflective at your ineptness and inexperience in life. LOL Jbot. Your comment is so insane “ENGINEER MAKES MORE THEN A BUILDER”

    (Report)

  41. Naughtyius Maximus Says:

The car in my opinion is wearing smidgeon thinner….to me the lights at top are pulled back too far and bonnet is too upright forward. Sort of clashes a tad here. Ford seem to be obsessed with this kinetic look a lot too. Still like it must admit!

    (Report)

  42. Naughtyius Maximus Says:

The other distinct problem with Ford is this new Euro inspired Kinetic design is at odds with American Fords…go look at USA Ford website as no Kinetic designs there and very ordinary cars!

    Iam outta here!

    (Report)

  43. No Name Says:

I agree with You Maximus, it is a european thing, have a look at the Uk ford website, the ‘look’ is totally family. Problem with Australia is it USA pacific, yes geographically, but there a strong European influence in attitude.
    Wheres TP I need answers.

    (Report)

  44. FORD Says:

NM, Ford USA is cool, at least they think outside the box not inverted like GM, have a look at GM’s website you won’t see any car with kinetic connetion there, at least Ford is having a proper go in this competitive market.

    (Report)

  45. Duck Says:

^^^^^^^^FORD USA sucks big time!!!!!!!! All boxy heavy ugly cars on four wheels!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    (Report)

  46. Duck Says:

It does have a bit of captva in it, but not tonnes, look closely.

    (Report)

  47. jbot Says:

I think the back is pretty similar to the Captiva, front is more like the new smaller Volvo SUV. Massive improvement on the Escape. Do they still sell that? I never see them on the road.

    (Report)

  48. FORD Says:

I don’t see any part of Kuga looking like a Craptiva, it won’t drive like a Daewoo and won’t smell like rotten eggs either..

    Go Ford and Jamie Whincup

    (Report)

  49. Naughtyius Maximus Says:

I disagree that back looks like Captiva….more Huyndai-ish and front agree looks like a Volvo. The Escape Iam sure is no longer sold or in phase out mode!

    (Report)

  50. FORD Says:

Where does it look the same put your glasses back on, have another good look at rear of the Craptiva, the lights shaped differently, rear side glass is rounded, Captiva has larger panel wheel arch flares, I think your confused with another model, man I’m wasting my time here good bye..

Go Ford !!!!! Great quality, innovation, kinetic design, cars people want not horrible Daewoos…

    (Report)

  51. Duck Says:

^Where not just talking about the rear lights. just the shape at the rear and at the boittom looks similar to a captiva.

    (Report)

  52. golfschwein Says:

I can see some similarities, too. Agree with Duck, and you can add wheel arches (sorry FORD!) and the little vent behind the front wheel to the list.

Essentially, it’s its own car, however, and a very good looking one. Much better than Captiva Maxx (I like that one), which in turn is much better than other Captivas.

    (Report)

  53. FORD Says:

Similarities are too small and minor to compare with any SUV before it, Ford is individual, new, higher standards = FULL STOP. CHALK AND CHEESE (sorry Golf) but I don’t agree at all, When the Kuga goes on the market Captiva will have nothing over the Kuga..

    (Report)

  54. Oz. Says:

Looks more like a Mondeo in SUV than a Captiva. But it a good looking car!

    (Report)

  55. FORD Says:

Right on Oz, good to know someone with a keen not confused eye, class written all over our Kuga….no more mention about Daewoo platform’s here please…KEEP OUT !!!!!!

    (Report)

  56. Andrew M Says:

i thought initially when i saw this vehicle that yes it did look captiva’ish from the rear but certainly not the front.
i have just opened up photos of the rear of the captiva and kuga and looked at them side by side.
the rears look nothing a like now that i have compared them properly.
even the roofline is no where near the same.
the roof line dives away heavily on the kuga at the rear and much more than the captiva.
also the door sills on the captiva are much higher and the captivas general stance seems to ascend from front to rear much more than the kuga.
    and then the front…….
    well say no more…….
the front on the kuga is far more stylish and as i keep looking back at the captiva photos the captiva is starting to look seriously bland and outdated.

there is one thing i dont agree on with “FORD” (the guy who comments under that name) and that is “Go Jamie Whincup”
    sorry mate but “GO DJR!!!!!!!”

    (Report)

  57. Andrew M Says:

    Duck,
the bottom at the rear is totally different to the captiva.

the rear bumper on the captiva wraps up the car and bulges out much more than the kugas bar. on the kuga the rear flows a little more freely from the top to bottom

    (Report)

  58. TP Says:

If you dont think that looks abit like a Captiva from the rear, you better take those Ford glasses off! I agree with Jbots summary of its looks. Daewoo rear, Volvo front.

    (Report)

  59. Duck Says:

    Once TP i agree!

    (Report)

  60. No Name Says:

Given that its based on a shared floor pan with Vovlo and has Vovlo 4wd running gear its not really a surprise that its similar to the forthcoming xc60.

    (Report)
