New Ford Fiesta 2008 Geneva Motor Show
Ford Fiesta 2008 Geneva Motor Show
![]()
As expected, the new Fiesta takes its styling cues from the Verve Concept which first debuted back in August last year, whilst also blending design principles from the Mazda2 with which it shares its platform.

Western Europe will have their hands on the new Fiesta later this year, however the rest of Europe, Asia, South Africa, North America and Australia may have to wait until as late as 2010 for regionally tailored models to arrive.

Chris - Duck was referring to the rear end looks and the similarity to the Hyundai i30 bum. He wasn’t saying it look cheapo if thats what got you.

You could replace any badge on any new car and get confused…tired of hearing the same old argument that one new vehicle looks like the next.
Ford has a winner on it’s hands with the new fiesta, simple.

Its got the engineering and is matched by sporty ero looks. This is the most overhaul Ford has done since the first major update of the Fiesta back in 2003 or 04 (not sure exact dates). It looks great both in interior and exterior, should be a killer in the Australian market when it comes on sale.
Cheers

Iam confident under Allan Mullaly the CEO of Ford that we are seeing a dropping of rubbish designs and going to slick Euro inspired kinetic designs. This is clearly evident!

Hey would i be wrong if i said that holden and ford use all the same parts in the car as each other (in V8 supercars only eg. clutch, gearbox etc)cause they modify them both alot! Like the V8 Super car falcon doesnt use the V8 5.4block like used in the falcon XR8 the V8 Supercar falcon uses a 5.0L engine instead. And would holdens engine be similar?

what happened to the good looking concept ford started with. they lost the plot when finishing the styling.
And remember this ‘ford’ is a reskinned mazda2, just like the focus is a reskinned mazda3 without the style.
and the Ka (stupid name) is a reskinned Fiat 500
are there any REAL fords left?
the 60% australian FG-ly falcon with its mexican gearbox doesn’t count!

Duck; engines in both cars are 5.0 litre Pushrod V8s which produce 620-700 Bhp.
The Gearboxes are either Hollinger H pattern Dog-boxes however; theay are gradually changing over to Sequential.
the Diff ratios are the same [depending upon circuit].
The brake rotors are the same make and size [24-48 vein] with similar 4-6 pot calipers.
suspension is also the same with multi-link suspension with watts linkage at the rear and a modified double wishbone set up at the front
So yeah it would appear that you are right

Who skinned the cat, Ford are using completely different designs, they steer clear of rebadging and copying other makes, unlike some manufacturer’s around these days..

Wheelnut,

(Report)

Dear ‘Mazda’,
The Fords are not ‘re-skinned’ Mazda’s, they both share the same platform. Oh and by the way, since manufacturers started out-sourcing their parts the majority of cars are basically made of the same stuff, an example of this is the current Rolls Royce using the same gearbox as the Aussie Falcon. I do prefer Fords only because they have a fantastic and comprehensive model range that has a family resemblance which can’t be said for Holden who have Opel grilles and Vauxhall grilles on cars in the same model range ie. Astra and Astra convertible and that is woeful in my opinion.
