Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4
March 4, 2008 by George Skentzos
Lamborghini has taken the covers off its next evolution of hypercars, with the Reventon-inspired Gallardo LP560-4.
In addition to its revamped exterior, the mid-mounted 5.2-litre V10 engine has also received a significant update.
The new engine features FSI direct-injection technology handed down from Volkswagen, developing maximum power of 412kW at 8000rpm and 539Nm – an increase of 24kW and 31Nm over the previous 5.0-litre powerplant.
The significant changes made to the gearbox and permanent all-wheel drive system share technologies developed for the Audi R8 and upcoming RS4 models.
The sprint to 100km/h takes just 3.7 seconds from a standing start, and onto a top speed of over 325km/h. Covering the quarter mile in just 11.8 seconds.
Perhaps the most shocking number associated with the new Lamborghini LP560-4 is the fuel consumption – just 14-litres per 100km on the combined cycle.
As with the previous model, the LP560-4 will be offered as a manual or with the optional six-speed e-gear transmission, which have been revised to cooperate more efficiently with the increased power and torque and the light Viscous Traction system.
In “CORSA” mode, the time taken for the e-gear transmission to swap cogs has been reduced by 40 percent. With CORSA mode selected, the program directs the engine for optimum acceleration for precision dynamics on the race track.

We saw this thing testing when we picked up the Lambos in Sant’ Agata but weren’t allowed to say anything :|
Very cool car
Looks great. Official fuel figures may be 14L/100km, but I’m sure few owners would see under 30 haha. How could you resist leaning on that accelerator??
When should we expect to see the videos/full write-up from your trip Alborz? Bet the Subie doesn’t feel as good as it used to!
Jbot I nearly went of the road when I got home, the steering response is a little different :)
The videos will take a few weeks for post production, but the write ups should only be a week or so away.
Sounds good!
Welcome home Alborz…….I thought that may be the case when you got back in the REX.
So I guess it will be difficult for you to get excited about anything else this year….
What an experience for you all. Look forward to hearing more about the trip soon.
