The result is an effortless zero to 100km/h time of just 5.5 seconds, coupled with fuel economy usually associated with engines half its size – just 11.9-litres of diesel per 100km.

The Q7 V12 TDI also gets optional 21-inch wheels which frame a mammoth performance brake package. Up front are eight-piston calipers biting onto 20-inch carbon-ceramic brake discs with four-piston calipers at the rear.

The exterior is comprised of a custom aerokit which can only be described as ‘beefy’, featuring an SUV translation of Audi’s trademark wide-mouth grill front end.

You wouldn’t want to stand to near that grille.
Torque curve graph tells you all you need to know..
    550nm from 1000rpm to a whopping 1000nm 750rpm later!

  2. dlr1 says:

The front end looks a bit like a snow plough, but i suppose that is the only likely “off road” use something like this is ever likely to see. Skiing anyone?

  3. Richo says:

but why? No matter how fast it is it’s too much of an SUV to be a sports car, but its too much of a car to go offroad or even on the beach…? Why on earth would you want one?

  4. o says:

One word woman with rich husbands

this doent do it for me those big side grill are to big i like the sleek line of the v8td

  5. fasthonda says:

Don’t care how powerful it is.It’s just an ugly machine.!

  6. Carl says:

Amazing stats from that monster engine and leaves for dead what the yanks call “GREEN” SUV’s with hybrid V8 petrol engines…LOL…. but still pretty ugly!

  7. Captain Mainwaring says:

This thing should have metal wheels instead of tyres and run on rails pulling 500 tonnes of freight.

  8. Pat E says:

5th gear used a Touareg to pull a 747, maybe now they can use this to pull the Airbus A380!

The Q7 is a really nice car in the flesh, very intimidating but classy at the same time. If the photos featured a black car, i think alot of people would think it more appealing

  9. ScottB says:

Dear god that’s ugly. Has Audi’s design department been replaced by some redneck named Cletus?

  10. Bavarian Missile says:

hahaha….geez Scott you sound like Basil Fawlety. Its not real pretty ha!Looks like it need a grill lift.

  11. Alec says:

    Caradvice..
Are you sure 20inch Discs fit inside 21 inch wheels??
The discs in the picture look more than 1 inch smaller than the wheel size…???

  12. Frugal One says:

I agree with everybody else, its plain ugly.

AUDI need to employee Italian design team ASAP!

What is REALLY ugly is the mouth/grill on the front of all AUDI, complicated, stupid-looking and plain ugly.

Is this vehicle really any different to a V10 ToeRag?

    Cheers

    F-0

  13. Adam says:

    +1 on Alec’s comment.

The discs are not 20″ at all. 500mm brake discs.. thats unpossible!!

  14. George says:

I had to do a double-take too, but they are definitely 20-inch discs.

  15. Mick says:

Im going to have to disagree with most of you on this one, I like the look of the normal Q7, the front grill is a bit excessive but the back looks good.
But 20″ brakes thats huge, just need some 24″ chromes for it and it could be pimp my rides new showcar.
Ill have to find someone with one incase i ever need the side of my house pulled out.

  16. c1ockwork says:

I’m with Mick on this one too. It looks like any other Audi that’s been stretched upwards to fit the profile of an SUV. I think it works quite well. It’s certainly no uglier than anything else in this market. If this is ugly then how do you rate a Lexus RX, Volvo XC, BMW X, Merc ML or Porsche Cayenne?

  17. dlr1 says:

^^^atleast some of the other luxury SUV look like they coold atleast mount a kerb without removing the front skirt.

  18. Myke says:

I like the look of the Q7. Weird, cos I don’t particularly like the new A4/A5, they are just too conversative.

  19. Duck says:

I like it! Wont take it off road though! Great BMW X5 V10 Competitor!

  20. No Name says:

And the diesel does it again. Waahhooooo.

Its not ugly, just white paint don’t do it justice. Nobody buy white car apart from you Australians (for good reason) over here their resale value are worse than a metalic coloured cars.

  21. Wheelnut says:

I think I’d prefer an M-12 Sherman.. as the Audi looks as aerodynamic; manouvreable not to mention as practical as a Tank

  22. Bavarian Missile says:

I know what I’d prefer at the moment………grrrrrr

  23. No Name says:

    Calm down Bavarian Love Nut…

  24. Bavarian Missile says:

How???????? Off for a cold shower……

  25. stumpy says:

They should use this to clear seagulls off airport runways, that grill would swallow them whole.

It’s not pretty but WOW that engine is a cracker.

  26. Duck says:

Has anybody read about the BMW X5 V10?

  27. Neo Utopia says:

This thing is like a female body builder in formal ware. I still can’t believe it goes that fast and uses that little fuel, i think Audi can see 10 years into the future of much higher fuel prices, higher carbon taxes and a niche of people who are wanting exiting cars but don’t want to be seen as high polluters.
