Melbourne Motor Show: Toyota FT-HS Concept
February 29, 2008 by Matt Brogan
This two-plus-two concept from Toyota is a front-engine, rear-drive sports car with a projected 0-100km acceleration times in the four-second range. The acceleration figures are achieved through a V6 3.5-litre engine coupled with a sports hybrid system with a target power output of approximately 298kW.
Toyota points out a great deal of design work that has gone into this sleek sports machine, especially in the doors and body style. The front and rear have been sculpted to remove mass around key functional components. Freeform geometrics define the integration of fluid surfaces and contrasting hard-edge “aero corners” which promote smooth airflow and reduce turbulence.

all good… when (should I say ‘if’) and $ please…
Supercar performance, medium car fuel economy and real big price tag….DONT CONFUSE THIS AS BEING ANYTHING OTHER THEN THAT!
and your point is NM?
isnt this concept like a year old
ALIEN thanks for dropping by and landing on this great website as cant remember seeing you visit before… my point is this is what TP who is well known on this site said of this vehicle on the other thread story:
Supercar performance with small car fuel efficiency… this is a winning formula.
Cant see it being that efficient to be honest!
looks alone guarantee it to be a winner
Its only a concept – there are features there that are not able to be put into production. The basic looks are good but it’ll be watered down
NM I dont think Alien would still be able to see your point, what I stated is correct… the idea by Toyota is great; your going to get great performance with fuel consumption that is in line with cars with half the power. I never said it wouldnt be pricey, even if it wasnt a hybrid it would be… I cant think of any decent cars that do the 100 in 4s that are cheap!!! In the past I have been critical of its looks, these pictures have changed that, from a more natural angle it actually looks quite nice.
TP…I agree with hybrids over diesels in medium term (the rest on here are short term looking at diesel) that as I said before they will nut out smaller batteries with huge capabilities, will be longer distances travelled between charges, rapid quick charge when empty, more power top up from when braking and using the non-electric motor. Its not a matter of “IF” but “WHEN” as the Japanese are notorious for tiny detail (the others are catching up hey) I have always said I like the look and would be sweet as to leave fairly much as is….the game is changing and they are on right track.
TP….what I like are the shots but inside is a sight for sore eyes as amazing set up hey! Maybe the goalposts are moving!
TP…also your desription on fuel consumption is now accurate i.e “…your going to get great performance with fuel consumption that is in line with cars with half the power”. It just came across brash to state small car efficiency but alas it will be a fuel saving with an insane 0-100kms in a stupid low 4seconds!
