Mazda held an MX-5 race on ice recently with teams from around the world comprising journalists, TV fans and readers competing in Sweden.
Modified slightly to be able to handle ice driving, the MX-5s used spike tyres and slightly different suspension and raced around a 5km course.
Day one saw the Australian team in the lead, and according to onlookers, everyone was impressed by the Aussie’s tribute to our summertime – wearing their speedos on the outside of their race-suits – Tony Abbott eat your heart out.
Day two saw Australia extend its lead until close to the end where a spin enable the Russian team to overtake and take the chequered flag, with the Aussies coming in second place.
