Australian Formula One ace Mark Webber has just bought himself a nice new Porsche 911 GT2 RS – he needed a daily road car so what else is there, apart from the most powerful production Porsche 911 ever? Porsche hasn’t missed the opportunity to capitalise off his purchase though and has come up with a passenger-ride-along video commercial.

All 500 limited examples of the Porsche 911 GT2 RS have been sold. It’s no wonder really, packing 463kW from a 3.6-litre heavily-turbocharged (twin turbo in fact) flat six, the GT2 RS is the quickest 911 ever made. It’ll sprint from 0-100km/h in just 3.5 seconds and keep going until 330km/h.

Take a look at the YouTube commercial below for a bit of an idea of what the car is about. Webber takes a few lucky passengers along for the ride too, the expression on the passenger’s faces says it all.

Well Nissan, there’s an ad that works.

I wonder if Mark paid full retail?

  • UMWHAT

it may be faster than the 993 GT2 but it aint better

  • F1MotoGP

Nissan or this car…..if Mark loves it I will go for the Porsche. He knows what is best!

  • Ben

when you put a porsche beside a GTR I know which one I will take :) Porsche hands down

    • Lukaas

      Ben

what if you only had 140K as your limit… then No Porsche for you… unless you opt for the Cayman.

      • Ben

can’t buy a GTR for 140K driveaway is 176k well make it 165k if you can bargain hard even then no GTR

  • stevo

+1 to the Porsche but isn’t the 2012 Nissan GTR heaps faster from 0-100km? I read the official figure is 2.9s!!. That would be like ‘game over’ for the Porsche.

    • Tael

AWD (Nissan GTR) as a setup always obliterate RWD off the line – power to 4 sets of rubber instead of 2. The 911 turbo (AWD) has been clocked at 2.7s 0-100km by Car & Driver magazine.

      • Shak

Isnt that for 0-60 mph though, which is actually 96kmh. So 0-62 would be about 2.9 seconds, just like the 0-62 time of the GTR would be 3.0

If I had the money, I’d go test drive both and see which one i actually fall in love with.
That minuscule difference in time wouldn’t make much difference in the shove that u get against your back anyway.

In Germany both cars do 0-100 in 3.5sec official figures. Nissan all wheel drive Porsche rear. Nissan bigger engine 3.8 Porsche 3.6 liter. Porsche 456 Nissan 357 kW and Porsche 700 Nm at 2250 Nissan 588 at 3200 rpm. Yes price for Porsche is much higher 237578 Euro Nissan 83500. If you look only price Nissan if price not important Porsche!

    • stevenson

0-100km/hr?? Is that really what it’s all about? & don’t be so quick to believe Nissan’s performance claims.

    • Neo

Stevo The Porsche has somthing the GTR does not have. Its called Style. the dont get me wrong the GTR is an amazing car and it is faster but who cares? id rather drive a GT2 RS.

  • Jimmy

Gee it would be great to see Mark win the championship this year.

  • Yeti Man

I don’t understand the GTR vs Porsche debate. They are both a formidable cars. If I have the money, I will buy both of them.

  • F1MotoGP

POrsche GT2 RS should be compared to Lexus LFA. 500 made only.
