Range Rover Range_e to debut at Geneva Motor Show

Range Rover will showcase its greenest vehicle yet, when it shows the Range_e at the Geneva Motor Show in March.

The Range_e is a development vehicle which showcases its push toward better fuel efficiency and lower emissions. How low? Well, how does 89 grams of CO2 per kilometre grab you?

As unbelievable as that sounds from a vehicle which is based on a Range Rover Sport, you have to remember that this is actually a hybrid. More than that, it's a diesel hybrid plug-in.

Using Land Rover's brilliant 3.0-litre TDV6 with an eight-speed ZF transmission, the Range_e features a plug-in parallel hybrid system enabling it to run purely as an electric vehicle for over 30 kilometres. It's top speed is 190km/h and it has a range of - wait for it - 1100km. All from a fully off-road capable four-wheel-drive.

While it may just be a showcase for Range Rover, it certainly shows what's possible. If this is the future of off-road machines, bring it on.
