Porsche Panamera S Hybrid expected to debut at Geneva
Porsche is expected to unveil the production version of the Porsche Panamera S Hybrid at the Geneva Motor Show on March 1.
Porsche announced overnight that the highlight of its Geneva stand would be the “world premiere of a parallel full hybrid model”.
In July last year, Porsche confirmed the Panamera S Hybrid was due to enter the market in 2011. The new vehicle is expected to share its hybrid underpinnings with the Cayenne S Hybrid.
The Cayenne S Hybrid is currently on sale in Australia and attracts a $56,800 price premium over the standard Cayenne V6 on which it is based ($160,800 vs $104,000).
The 3.6-litre engine in the Cayenne V6 produces 220kW and 400Nm of torque, while the S Hybrid model ups output to 279kW and 580Nm.
If the Panamera S Hybrid is to be based on the entry-level $193,000 Panamera with the same V6 engine, expect prices to start around $250,000 or above for the petrol-electric version.
Porsche will premiere the parallel full hybrid model alongside the 918 RSR hybrid racing car concept, the 243kW Cayman R, the 911 Black Edition and the Boxster S Black Edition at Geneva on March 1.
