Full Throttle in Europe – A Supercar Odyssey

February 20, 2008 by Alborz Fallah

Full Throttle in Europe – A Supercar Odyssey – Introduction

It’s 8:30 in the morning and I am sitting at Brisbane’s domestic airport waiting for my flight to Sydney. Nothing unusual about that, except that this time I am not just flying down to drive a Murcielago LP640 or an Aston, no, this time, we are going overseas.

Full Throttle in Europe - A Supercar Odyssey #1

I am not good with secrets, so it’s been extremely hard keeping my mouth shut about our overseas trip. After months and months of begging, fighting and planning, I can now confirm for you – our loyal readers – that CarAdvice is on its way to Europe to drive the world’s best, fastest and most expensive supercars.

CarAdvice has come a long way from just another car blog (thanks mainly to you and our passionate staff), today we are listed in the top three automotive blogs in the world and we are growing at a rapid rate both domestically and internationally – and we still have so much left to do – but that’s a different story altogether.

I won’t ruin it for you just yet, instead, I will let you work out which cars we are testing. These clues might help.

We are going to three countries:

  1. Italy
  2. France
  3. England

One or two may be easy to guess, but there are some absolute serious weapons in the list.

Tony, Karl and I will be leaving the sunny skies of Sydney on Saturday but we have already sent our Guinea Pig (Paul) to Eastern Europe.

I will post more info before Saturday, but once we get over there expect nightly updates with pictures and a video compilation of all the cars when we come back.

Good stuff Alborz- if you manage to get to the Westcountry (UK) let me know, I could show you a few good drives.

    Enjoy the trip

  3. Steve says:

Great news. Good to see how far CA has come in such a short time.

Right now I wish I was part of the team.

  4. Godspeed says:

Kudos to you and the team Alborz, have a safe trip and enjoy, you lucky B8stards! :)

  5. Casey says:

    Hmmm… I’m guessing

    Italy – Ferrari, Lambo, Alfa 8C ???
France – tricky one, not sure, R8 ???
England – Aston for sure… DBS maybe???

Either way, this is SO cool, can’t wait to see pics & video.

  6. Casey says:

Wait… is that a Bugatti on the map?

  7. Marc says:

Yeah Casey it looks like it.

Have fun guys. Yes, I’m jealous…

  8. Pat E says:

  9. Ford is No.1 says:

Send us a post card lol and also bring back a Bugatti as souvenir, have fun, safe trip, lucky buggers are you going to see the top gear team that would be cool too…. :-)

  10. Bob says:

Gaydon is Aston Martin, Guessing DBS.
Strasbourg has to be Bugatti Veyron, just near Molsheim.
Sant Agata is the Home of Lamborghihi. Gallardo Superleggera anyone?!

    Yummy!!!!!

    Any prizes for guessing right?

  11. Godspeed says:

Nice one Bob! I would have guessed Gaydon-AM and Sant’ Agata-Lambo but not Strasbourg-Bugatti although there is plainly a Veyron on the map.

The Lambo factory in Bologna is sensational – went there in mid-06.

CA is truly going high-profile huh!

  12. Bavarian Missile says:

Finally the day has arrived Alborz. You must have thought it was never going to get here!

Have fun guys, like thats not going to happen!

Better bring Matt something back ……..!

Some bottled air out of the Veyron maybe ….hahaha

    [NOT PRIMO THIS TIME!]

  15. mistertwo says:

Gaydon is the home of Aston Martin and the Heritage Motor Centre. It used to be the Rover/Austin Rover/Land Rover proving ground (similar to Lang Lang and You Yangs but not as big) until BMW sold Land Rover to Ford and included it in the sale. You will get to do some great driving and a liberal attitude to speeding. Good on you!!

  16. Karl Peskett says:

And I’m still sitting here in Perth.

    Hurry up Saturday!!!

  17. Sure you dont need to come along Alborz?

Cant wait till you back to hear all about it!

Tell Karl I am jealous, seriously jealous!

    Enjoy :)

  18. Bavarian Missile says:

hahaha….hey Karl sure there’s no room in the suit case?

  19. Frugal One says:

Maybe you can test a Mazda CX7 in UK?

They have them in manual tranny!

Cheers and enjoy the trip, looking foward to your reports

  20. Why would one waste their time on a fake sportscar/ fake family wagon, just because it has a clutch?

  21. Mitch says:

I think someone has an unheathly obsession with the cx7

    I miss you Alborz :(
Bring back a rabbit for me!

  23. Bavarian Missile says:
