Andrew.M you are abit thick, no offence, but you cant accept what various sources tell us and indeed common sense, that a smaller car is cheaper to run. LOOK BEYOND FUEL. You will benefit a small amount in fuel but the bigger savings are in insurance and rego... along with depreciation. For these reasons if you dont need a large car, you shouldnt have one, its dead money if you aernt using it for family/towing/etc.

OZ....the front and rear lights are still carryover fairly much from last model. For me I like the look of the new models and looks classy as........brand familiarisation of these cars as many on road leads to people being negative on the lights as being a carryover pretty much - I view it as sweet on these compared to last model.

LPG BA Falcon ute I have I get around 9lt/100kms on country travels and is wicked car....you phythagoras theory people with your diesel, this motor is better then that and then watching ramblings of some unhinged claiming weight savings between models is just claims and counterclaims and correcting someone elses BS.....LPG is ultimate and should be encouraged more. Heck my car has tools I use when checking subbies work and have some 300kgs in there and heaps of power and room galore inside cabin.

I've noticed there's a new poll on this site, "Is the new Ford Falcon a step forward for the Australian manufacturer?"

I really can't see how the FG Falcon would not a step forward for Ford, yet 32% say it's NOT a step forward. But why? Is there something they can see which shows something that's not good about the new Falcon, or is it just anti-Ford sceptics with Ford closing down in Australia on top of their wish list?

no name,
mate i am now officially the embassador for "why change to a small car to save 1.5L/100k" ha ha ha

i cant for the life of me see how people see ditching the falcon (large car) makes big $ savings.
on h'way the falcon gets well under 10L/100. 8L 100k is common for falcon H'way milage.
even the LPG falcons can get down to 10L/100k on H'way cycle

May well have been the LPG, Andrew M I stand corrected. I must admit that 10's are fantastic figure for the engine size. Almost not worth having a diesel or certainly a smaller petrol engine. There seemed to be all sorts of problems with the CA & Forum website last night.
Thanks folks...mayby it would be the Falcon.

No Name,
ill correct you.........

the "outgoing" falcon has an official consumption figure of 10.2L/100k (with the 6sp auto).
this new model has claimed further improvements on that again.

i dont know where you got 15.1L/100k
imm saying at a guess that maybe the LPG figure.

also the falcon service intervals are currently 15,000k's
and have been for quite a while,
im not sure what the mondeos are ive never checked on that but smaller engines always need oil changed more frequently.
and LPG again needs to be changed even less than petrol

“The GT-E is a sophisticated luxury performance car that will cater for those buyers that don’t want the stripes, wings, and seats offered in the GT-P; however want to retain all the performance attributes of that car,” said Barrett.

Sorry, Sophisticated doesnt go well with Aussies and Fords...
Ford Australia when are you going to learn to show less cheap plastic and intergrate your headlights better and not make em look like some repco after markets.
Your cars should be getting smaller if you wanna seem European Sophisticated.
Aussies dont have 4+ children families nomore unless your maltese.
Better than American cars though.

Watto - The Ford Au website. Correct me if i'm wrong.
Yeh I appreciate some drivers prefer the RWD, which most of the folks looking at this site but many others don't mind at all. I thought 15's seemed too high, 10's are bloody good for a big engine.
Given running costs i think i'd stick with the Mondy and watch the V8's doing their stuff on the tracks. Don't get me wrong I think the Falcon is a great car and would love to see it here but it would cost 30% more than Australia & just wouldn’t compete.

Where did you read 15.1L/100kms Noname? The official figures for 4L ZF-6AT is 10.1. For 4L 5AT it's 10.5. For Turbo 4L it's 12 something. Are you talking about XR8?

I don't understand what you mean by "performance you cannot use anyway"? Why are ALL Aussie made cars minimum 195Kw? Different culture to Europe, although you could say it's very slowly swinging more to smaller diesels thanks to fuel prices. You noticed that when you were living here didn't you?

FWD rules Mondeo out for me, as much as I like everything else about it. I've said before the TRD Aurion is a good-looking vehicle too, but again FWD. Just do not like them and I have driven more than a few.
