Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster, C63 AMG Coupe, Biome revealed in Super Bowl commercial

The Mercedes-Benz commercial shown during the fourth quarter of yesterday’s Super Bowl revealed a number of firsts from the brand.

Mercedes provided us with the first official glimpses of two of its brand new AMG vehicles: the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster and the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Coupe.

Both vehicles will make their world premieres at the Geneva Motor Show on March 1 before they go on sale later in the year.

Although it loses the hardtop’s gullwing doors, the SLS AMG Roadster will be powered by the same 420kW/650Nm V8 engine.

Some mystery still remains around the C63 AMG Coupe, although if it mirrors the four-door variant as expected, it will be powered by the same 6.2-litre V8 engine as the current model, producing 336kW of power (358kW with the optional AMG Performance Pack) and 600Nm of torque.

Also revealed for the first time was driving footage of the Mercedes-Benz Biome, a concept vehicle that Mercedes claims is more organic than mechanical.

The commercial briefly shows the Biome overtaking a replica of the brand’s first automobile, the Benz Patent-Motorwagen, which was built by Carl Benz almost exactly 125 years ago.

It’s not often that Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is overshadowed, but his appearance in the commercial is very much a cameo, as the cars rightfully take the limelight.
