Ssangyong SUT 1 Concept to preview 2012 Actyon Sports

Ssangyong has revealed the first official sketches of the Ssangyong SUT 1 Concept vehicle – a design that will preview the all-new Ssangyong Actyon Sports utility due in early 2012.

The SUT 1 Concept will be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show on March 1, embracing the Korean brand’s contemporary new styling direction that was first introduced on the Korando compact SUV.

While similar in size to the current Actyon Sports – 4985mm long, 1910mm wide, 1755mm tall, 3060mm wheelbase – the design of the SUT 1 Concept is a significant departure from current utility, which is among the most polarising designs on the market.

The SUT 1 Concept is decidedly European, and should help make Ssangyong a more mainstream player in developed global markets.

Equipped with a Euro V-compliant 2.0-litre diesel engine, the new Actyon Sports will produce 114kW of power and 360Nm of torque. Peak torque will be delivered from 1500-2800rpm. The current model produces 104kW and 310Nm at 1800rpm.

The new model will be available with the choice of six-speed manual or automatic transmission and in either rear- or all-wheel drive.

The 2012 Ssangyong Actyon will go on sale in Europe and other markets from early next year.

CarAdvice has contacted Ssangyong Australia about the local availability of the new Actyon Sports, but we will update the story when we hear more.
